I remember as a kid going to a pretzel bakery in Lancaster County and getting a 5lb can filled up for about 75cents. I've been a pretzel eater all my life. Not the healthiest habit - I know. Now that I've moved away I still miss them. So all knowing board - who makes the best hard pretzels and where do you get them now? Thanks

The ones you mentioned are probably the best. I've had them too and they beat any store bought brand.

Hammond's Pretzels in Lancaster, they are the best! Hand rolled, made in a converted garage in the back of a row home. When I visit my company's HQ in Lancaster I always try and stop in to get some. They pull them warm right out of the oven for you. https://www.hammondpretzels.com/

MMMmmm! Extra Salty

I grew up in the Capital area. My favorites were always Snyders of Hanover Sourdough Pretzels. I ate them like crazy as a kid and even had them mailed to me when I was serving in the Navy. I try not to eat too many pretzels these days but still grab a bag of Snyders beer pretzels every now and then.
I believes Martins made a cheese pretzel that came in the tins. They were a great snack also as a youngster.

I'm eating a bag of Snyders of Hanover right now , it say's made in Charlotte NC. It also says "we are not connected with Snyders of Berlin PA" They are my favorite though, because they don't as much salt on them

I guess I'm biased because I'm from that area but Snyder of Berlin make very good pretzels.
Their Pretzel rods rock. But even better than the pretzels are their potato chips.
At one time they only used local potatoes but the've been bought and sold a couple of times and I don't think thats true anymore but their products are still very, very good.

Hammonds rings a bell. I think that's what I remembered. And someone has a pretzel museum in Lititz as well that remember. We sent packs to relatives all over the country one year from there. i need to make a road trip. Thanks all.

You guys have no idea what a good hard pretzel is. Revonah pretzels have no peer. It is Hanover spelled backwards.
Try them if you can find them. Since being in TN for the last 17 years I don't know if they are still in business.

Nitwit, you are thinking of Sturgis Pretzels. Evidently they were the first "commercial" pretzel company. Just did the short tour with the kids when we were visiting Lancaster in May. They no longer make their pretzels there.

By far my favorite...just ordered some last week:

Anderson Pretzel in Lancaster used to have tours--they also made pretzels for a lot of the big commercial companies (Rold Gold (sp?) was one). We used to go there a lot when my sister lived in Lancaster Co.

Snyders of Hanover used to sell bags of sourdough broken pretzel pieces, not sure if they still do. Used to mix them with melted butter and Lipton onion soup mix and bake the mixture onto the pretzels at a low temperature. Pretty darn good that way.
