I was at a Sams Club in the Dayton,Ohio area and saw Yuengling ice cream. I picked up some Black and Tan ice cream. I had no idea Yuengling made ice cream. What gives? Is it any good as I now own a quart. TIA.

Yeah I like the ice cream. I actually like the black and tan the best. The tan is like a caramel flavor. They just started selling it a few years ago. It's in a lot of the stores around me in PA for at least a year or two. Most flavors I have were good. It is a separate business from their beer business I believe.

got the Yuengling BBQ sauce at Publix last week and used it last night on some wings, a real nice sweet and tangy sauce

Iirc the ice cream is made by leibys and marketed by yeungling. Some generations ago one yeungling got the brewery another son got the ice cream. Which they closed. One of the ice cream side of the tree started the ice cream back up

The history is probably on the carton. I am holed up in the Skook, home of Yuengling. A memeber of the family was in the ice cream business back during prohibition I believe and after it was over they concentrated on beer. They revisited the old recipes and started the business back up. The B and T and the salted caramel are delicious. Enjoy.

The ice cream is pretty good. Not sure who makes it though.

Root beer float is my favorite.

The Yuengling family started making ice cream when prohibition came to keep loyal employees working and a business running. It became very
popular especially locally and I believe lasted into the mid 70's maybe longer. Their peanut butter ice cream was incredible.

They either opened their own facility or Leibys is a possibility in Tamaqua.

Their ice cream is excellent, their beer, even better.

Yuengling Beer, $1.25 special at Westwood. Awful.

Corona 2 bucks a bottle.
Jesus, Modelo makes this beer for world wide distribution where it has a little bit of flavor. I believe Constellation brands makes a watered down version of this pussy shit for the U.S. seriously, drink Modelo Especial if you need to go Mexican, or Dos Equis, shw some gumption and have a standard worth bragging about.

Where the hell is Westwood btw? Here in the Skook, Dick and family have kept their promise to the locals to keep it cheap as a way of saying thanks for all the support over the years.

Anyway, Corona blows.

Westwood is in West Mifflin Pa, about a mile from Kennywood. 23 bucks for 9 holes with cart, 37 for eighteen.

Gotcha, love the fact that I can buy cases of Vitamin Y at a premium when I am holed up in the western side of the state.

Kennywood rocks.

Yes, it is very good. The ice cream is made by Dick Yuengling's (beer) first cousin. Yuengling Brewery made ice cream back during Prohibition as a way to make money during the era. In late 70s/ early 80s Yuengling stopped making ice cream and sold the rights to Green's (believe Green's dropped their recipes in favor of using Yuengling's). The former creamery is now used as a warehouse by the brewery and for water treatment before discharge to near by Schuylkill River. The ice cream is now made in South Tamaqua at the sight of a former dairy operation (name escapes me).

Yuengling ice cream is made by Leiby's dairy. Leiby's had their own store in S. Tamaqua but it closed many years ago. They however did keep producing ice cream and are suppliers to a few places and apparently have the Mr. Softee business for all of NYC.
