I'm starting to worry that this head stuff may end his career it seems like he can't go a tournament without something CKLV, I heard it was an issue at NCAA's and something had to be off at OTT's. Really hope he figures it out because I truly think the sky is the limit for him but he just cant stay healthy.hour ago, BigRedFan said:
Shapiro gets a couple of bizarre TDs, gives up a TD, lands on head, eventually MFor. Gonna be a *really* long season...
Probably 15 years ago my cousin's son won a couple PA Junior Wrestling state titles, placed in several age specific national tournaments and generally speaking impressed me in being able to be taught new techniques and almost immediately able to effectively use them. Half way through a one loss freshman season he started getting headaches. Eventually he couldn't get through a practice without having physically disabling headaches. Sat out the rest of his freshman year and his sophomore year without any issues. 2 weeks into his junior season they started again. He never got a chance to see how good he could have been. 30 or so now, married, father with a successful career and a functioning brain.Taken from TheMat

Stutzman Era 2.0 is off to a good start. There are three freshmen on the roster: Cole Coffin, Hayden Coy, and Leo Hess.
Maybe Kemerer might have been a better idea????
Got to use every RS available so he’s at least 25 when he portals to Iowa. LOL.Luke Stanich is gonna be hard to redshirt this year. Won the Journeyman at 141 beating Orine and Composto. Ryan Jack was also in that division. Also has a win over Lemley this year.
25, college degree in hand. If fully taken advantage of, a masters. Ready to get busy with life, and stop in Iowa City to pick up half a million in seed money and a look at the windowless dungeon and tunnel. Not a bad plan.Got to use every RS available so he’s at least 25 when he portals to Iowa. LOL.
When Basch posted Lesley got upset I did not think he was correct on that one, I would have picked that.Luke Stanich is gonna be hard to redshirt this year. Won the Journeyman at 141 beating Orine and Composto. Ryan Jack was also in that division. Also has a win over Lemley this year.
Yeah, was watching the BEG guys last night and they said after it happened they checked him out and then let him continue for a bit after that. Considering they did the same thing last year when he suffered the concussion at CKLV there seems to be something wrong with their trainer and coaching stafff. This isn’t good. Heard Shapiro lost to a Harvard kid and could have another concussion issue. He just medically forfeited to Arrington of NCst.
Guy on TheMat said he hit his head on the mat after an inside trip and was holding his head afterwards.
Maybe their trainer and coaching staff know more about Shapiro than do you? Like when he lost to Cardenas at NCAAs with a similar issue, and ended up taking third (and soundly beating Cardenas the next day)?Yeah, was watching the BEG guys last night and they said after it happened they checked him out and then let him continue for a bit after that. Yes, probably do. That being said, yesterday,he landed on his head, called injury time. He was sitting there holding his head. Knowing his history with concussions from last year maybe you just be proactive and default right then for a match that means nothing rather than send him back out.Maybe their trainer and coaching staff know more about Shapiro than do you? It was just earlier in the year during the wrestle off with Nick Lee to go to Pan Am‘s.Didn’t a similar thing happen with Yianni a year or two ago? I could be misremembering but I can picture a match where his clock was seriously rung but he kept wrestling until he finally couldn’t continue and MFF’d.
Speaking of which, Rutgers lost 23-14. Next time KidDagger pops in, I'll have to ask him about his 22-9 Rutgers win prediction for the dual.Apparently Dean Peterson of Rutgers had to medical default during his match to Vince Robinson of NC St.
Keegan-Braunagel was fun. Braunagel really showed up ready to bring it, but honestly, KOT looked nothing like a two-time champ.Didn't see anyone mention Missouri-Illinois last night.
O'Toole - Braunagul was a barn burner with Braunagul getting a couple of TDs. Was 9-7 with 10 seconds to go before O'Toole got 3 and 4 off a Braunagul TD.
Easy to see why O'Toole is ranked so high and so mucher higher than Levi in Kocak's PFP - I mean Braunagul is elite despite that 3-4 record.😎
Love that Gable got the #1 over Carter before stepping on the mat as well. Gable's NCAA resume must be better than Carter's because we know Kocak doesn't take freestyle or injury defaults into account when ranking, right?
Right??? LMAO. Hope they got their extra 100 clicks.
You mean undersized for a 197? The Braunagels are scrappers and fun to watch, but yeah, fringe AA is about their ceiling in folkstyle. I expect more from Sinclair eventually, although I assume he’s bound for RS this year once Elam is back.Sinclair/Braunagel is a notable result for us since most would have Braunagel as a fringe AA candidate. Sinclair I think might be a bit undersized for 184 and Josh beat him to make the U20 team.
Simlarly, although Sinclair did have Connor's number in HS, Ben notoriously always seemed higher on Connor's college potential since Connor is way more of an attacker (and possibly the fact Cael sees potential adds to it) Although Cael said Connor is a shoe in to redshirt, Ben said he thinks under Cael, there isn't anyone at 197 Connor can't compete with by next March if needed.
Pretty sure Sinclair lost pretty handily the first weekend as well. I can’t remember who it was against thoughYou mean undersized for a 197? The Mizzou staff noted that Braunagel was gassing at the end of the first, and Sinclair was eventually able to cash in.
Note that Barr lost (badly) Sinclair in the US Open finals in April 2024, just a couple months prior to reversing the result (winning 2 of 3 bouts) in the U20 world team trials. Sinclair lost a 9-12 decision to Andy Smith of VaTech. This on 15 Nov 2024. Smith is a senior and ranked #13 by Intermat. Really not a bad loss at all for Sinclair, who is a true freshman and was wrestling in his first college dual meet.Pretty sure Sinclair lost pretty handily the first weekend as well. Under a bridge, presumably.Braunagul certainly made O'Toole work for it.
Did this dual happen in a bar, or perhaps in a pop-up event tent in a parking lot? I guess the good news is that the 25 spectators had a good view.
