The one things that kills me year in and year out is our weak and pathetic out of conference schedule. I fully understand that scheduling can happen 5-10 years out, but I am tired of playing all of the cupcake games. One is ok with me as a warm up (say a Georgia State as an example), but we need to do better and keep up within our conference.
It seems each year, OSU has a strong Top 20 out of conference game. Oklahoma this year and so forth. Michigan has Florida this year, and Wisconsin always has a tough game (LSU most recently). For a national brand such as PSU, it blows me away that I have to watch the Akron, Toledo, and Georgia State's of the world each and every year (and please don't tell me that the Pitt game is a "marquee game"). We need to do better.
I've been hearing Virginia Tech, etc. in the future, but that still doesn't wet the appetite for me. How about some SEC powerhouses (Alabama, Florida, etc.). Or how about a renewed rivalry with Miami. Florida State would be great, or even a West Coast team such as Stanford.
Anyway - love my Lions, but it is just puzzling to me that we have all of the shitty games year in and year out.
Thoughts?
