In full disclosure $0 goes to the NLWC with each entry, and other than the reference to PA this appears to have nothing to do with wrestling. Just sayin.

Eh I looked at the offerings. Mostly low octane stuff I have little interest in.
Now if I could just my hands on some Bookers or EC barrell proof with any kind of regularity that would be a win.

For those that like single malt scotches:

I had been satisfied for years with my old standby McCallan. In full disclosure, I am more of a red wine guy. I drink scotch only a few times per year to be honest.

I ran into a guy from work out of Signapore who is a real officianado. He has authored several books on the subject. I recited my preference for a single malt fermented in sherry casks. I can't handle the real peaty/earthy or medicinal single malts. He sneered when I mentioned McCallan, and gave me a few pointers to some "real" sherry cask singles.

To anyone who cares here are the three he recommended.

Glenallache 10 batch 4+ $76
Glendronach 15 12 = $59
Bunnahabhain 12 =??

I bought the Glendronach 15 at my local Total Wines and did a side by side. Wow what a difference. Slightly sweet with a hint of vanilla. McCallan no more.

I'd like to think my odds of winning increase after entering year after year.
However, I know they are the same each year. I would love to get drawn for any of the van winkle group.

I spoke to my Pennsylvania Bourbon Consultant and he explained to me that you have to pay even if you "win," so I guess I have to expand my defintion of the term "lottery." Also, I believe I won a bourbon called "504 Gateway Time-Out" but am still waiting on a confirmation email.

True , the only reason why I don’t completely hate this is you get it at suggested retail if you’re picked.

For those new to the FWGS lottery.. this is actually the left over bottles from the main lottery for Pappy and some of the other big guns.. Michter's 20 for example.. apparently some were not claimed or declined and so these are those bottles.. thus the numbers are very low.. like 1 single Pappy 23 for the entire state.. so odds are about as good as getting struck by lightening while being bit by a shark all at the same time..

Also for those new to the pleasures of FWGS web site.. It is a complete clusterf**k. They went from having Whiskey Wednesdays to having random drops of allocated bottles and now the site crashes as often as it works.. On the positive side of things.. if you win a bottle or get thru on one of the random drops you are going to get a very good bottle at actual retail as opposed to be raked over the coals by private stores marking things up to secondary costs..

and oh yes.. you must have PA address and PA addressed credit cards I believe... and also ONE entry per HOUSEHOLD so even husband/wife can't both enter.. if they see duplicate addresses/names etc.... they will disqualify all entries from that address..

All true, I’m hoping for the 23 but yeah. The Woodford would be nice but pricy .

I actually stayed away from the Woodford.. just not worth paying for a crystal decanter with ok bourbon in it.. I did however go in for the Michter's 20...
I might find someone who would want it lol. Of course a secondary sale is illegal .
