Created a spreadsheet so I could sort NCAA results by the wrestlers high school state, pts scored, weight, college, etc and found that PA high schools, once again, did quite well

BY HIGH SCHOOL STATE... AA's only included

PA ..... 17 AA's ..... 8 weight classes ..... 222 pts
NJ ..... 10 ..... 8 ..... 173
MICH ..... 6 ..... 5 ..... 70
ILL ..... 6 ..... 6 ..... 62
OH ..... 5 ..... 3 ..... 72
NY ..... 5 ..... 4 ..... 68.5

PA had no AA's at 49 or 97
I was surprised by Ill success

Illinois has always had strong results.

But it's pretty clear the recruiting hotbeds continue to be in PA, NJ and Ohio with a secondary hotspot of Michigan, Illinois and NY. Kind of a weaker than usual year for Ohio, btw, iirc.

Interesting fact I saw over at HR this week, Spencer is Iowa's only national champion ever from PA.

Make all the jokes you want towards Rutgers, but if they ever keep their best wrestlers, they could become an elite wrestling program in the future.
