PA HS Wrestling thread

Jax wins 11-4. Pretty much controlled the whole match. Aaron seemed to get robbed of 2 back points though. Jax actually rode him a bunch. Aaron really only took one good committed shot at the end and just could not finish. Decent match, Forrest just better. Will see if Seidel drops for post season?

Seidel will most definitely drop, especially after this. If you look back, it seems, he dropped each season to the weaker weight. He is good but 175-2 shows he wrestled a typical AA type schedule. No way if he wrestled a national schedule with (Ironman, Beast, ETR and Powerade) it would be blown up like that.

Harer also wrestles a very weak schedule, which is fine in PA AA but will hurt once he goes to College in the B10

Zero chance he wrestles Jax. Especially after he was dominated. No way he puts his fourth State title on the line vs Jax

Who would have Evanistky wrestled? My co-worker said he was there and weighed in. He was told that is why Basset went out at 150. Bouzakis wrestled 157 in the box score. Maybe 165?

My guess is Seidel wrestles Bachman at regionals in finals at 127. Botero will be 121. Bachman wont be big or strong enough for Seidel. Bachman will get some tests this weekend so we see how he looks at 127. Also we will know soon enough if Seidel is dropping.

Seidel beats Bachman and Botero. No one wants Jax, so 126 will be loaded with people from 133 dropping too.

Jax could also drop from 133 to 127. If McCourt wants to win States they need to get Jackson Butler (just beat Dalton Perry) into the lineup. They could go Jax 127, Sam 133, Butler 139, Bo 145, Magro 152, Melvin 160. That gives them a shot at outplacing/beating Faith at every weight from 127-160

Seidel is still telling others that he plans to stay up. I wouldn't blame him for dropping (I'd do it). As far as legacy, he'll probably get the PIAA all-time wins record, so maybe that takes the sting off a bit if he falls short of 4 titles. He might also not want to go down as running from the best for the medal. He seems like that type of kid.

To tell you the truth I've known a lot of wrestlers and not one of them ever ran out of a weight to not wrestle someone just saying.

A can think of a couple of guys that chose to stay at weight knowing there was a stud at the weight.
Nazareth Tashner went after Crawford. Beat Crawford who was on 130 match win streak at Regionals. A week later Crawford won his 4th State title.
Josh Kindig and his father (coach) went after Jordan Oliver. Kindig gave Oliver a very tough Regional match. They both ended up at Oklahoma State.

Caines was way too highly ranked. Bachman teched him again. Schickley beat him 7-3. And then had a close match with Schaffer for 5th place, who never sniffed states. Schaffer transferred from AA to an AAA school. AAA 114 regional much easier so he probably qualify this year. But if he was still AA not a chance he would qualify for states.

I watched the District 11 AAA finals. BECA was too deep for Nazareth. Nazareth might do better in year end individual tournament.
Nico Emili is a real good freshman for BECA. He's going to out muscle most kids at 107 and is real quick on finishing like his father was many years ago at Northampton. His Dad, Dave, has a wrestling school in Easton, Forks Township.

I think you’ll see Emili and Brayden Wenrich (Northampton) in a three week series of D11, NE Regional, and PIAA finals. Emili at Becahi I think is the last fallout from the Jamarr Billman era at Easton, though I do wonder if his dad now being on Becahi’s staff will help siphon off some of Easton’s very good middle school team to the Brown and Gold.

This is for all you Seidel will run from Jax guys. Aaron is now locked in at 133. I told you all he would not run from anyone.
Any chance BMC does a lineup slide (Jax 127, Herring 133, Butler 139)? (At least for state duals) this would give them the best chance for winning state duals (and maybe also IND. states)

I would bet my house that Jax is at 127 for State Duals. I think he goes 133 post season though.
If he can make 127 that makes the matchup with Faith much more interesting because it is likely 2-2 after 127 rather than 3-1. And I am sure Faith will have their own lineup tricks (like Mason Wagner only weighing in the last day of State duals when 133 was 137 last year)

I don't think Herring is eligible for 133 this weekend.
IDK about his specific weigh-ins, but he has competed at 138-139 every match this year.

For him to go 133 this weekend, he would've had to weigh 135.0 or less for his 2 matches on Sat 2/1.

Is it not going to be 136.0 (and maybe 137.0) for the Saturday of State Duals (the only day that matters for BMC)
