Trey Kibe should cruise thru NW AAA 160 170. Likely finals opponent either Lance Urbas (State College), who he beat at D6s, or Trent Tidball (Meadville).

Ryan Crookham will face returning state finalist and M2 trainee Levi Haines at the SE AA 126 finals.

Hayden Cunningham has a tough draw at NW AAA 106. Will face Jacob Van Dee (Erie Prep) in the semis – returning SQ, only losses this year to Church and Kasak. Win that and he gets Mifflin County’s defending regional champ Nic Allison, who beat Cunningham 3x this year (including D6 finals).

Some other potential matchups to watch this weekend … finals unless otherwise noted. This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all wrestlers to watch – rather, the better matchups. Some of the best wrestlers won’t have much of a test until states.

Keep an eye in NE 170 on Falcone from Easton. He's a West Point commit. He took it to Pinto 3rd period last week. I think it ended up 3-1. Pinto should of been called for stalling a couple of times.

Also another kid to watch with a deceiving record in NE is 113 Braxton Apelleo from Easton. He's 23-5. 4 of his loses were out of state kids(mostly prep schools)). His only PA loss was to Malvern Prep kid. He looked really good in finals last week.

Most Irish name in the tournament

Killian Delaney

Nathan Higley (JR) out of Sullivan County (D4 AA) for my money is fun as it gets in terms of style. He's incredibly funky, unorthodox as it gets and looks like he's gonna make a hell of a run in Hershey. Keep an eye on him.

Its been 20 years since I lived in PA but was wondering if he's from the Higley family that owned L&H lumber is Sullivan County? Ive seen a few of his past matches with Cole Rhone. Rhone always got the better of him but Higley definitely lets it fly

SW:

WPIAL seeds wrestlers regardless of sectional affiliation. Phipps was clear #1 seed before losing to Solomon at sectionals. Welsh beat Solomon HTH during the season and won his sectional, so they gave #1 to Welsh, #2 seed to Solomon, and #3 seed to Phipps.

Minor correction: Ty Watters is from West Allegheny, not North Allegheny.

Apollo is definitely one of the top contenders at Hershey.

IDK but considering Sullivan County's population is about 2 dozen people ...

Not sure about the same family probably is, but I do remember back in the 90's his father (usually in his corner) taking a beating from hell at the D4 meet courtesy of Mike Shingara...ugly scene, that guy just brutalized everyone.

Good God! You're the Ken Jennings of wrestling.

Honest question: do your work for a living or is following wrestling your full-time vocation?

Thag kid was stacked like no other. Walking muscle.

How is Levi Haines progressing?
Is he gonna be a big-time prospect.
Would be nice to see DT establish a pipline for us.
He'll be at least top 20 in class of 2022.

As far as PSU goes, he might be the wrong year. Maybe in that no man's land of not quite Howard/Bartlett/Crookham/Van Ness but too good to not start somewhere.

We'll see -- he's just a SO.

El jefe missed a big one:

SE 152 Cam Robinson(Council Rock North-2nd in State) vs A J Tamburrino(Hatboro-Horsham-3rd in State) in the finals, if Tamburrino can get by Jack McGill of SpringFord in the semi's

No way, pipeline terminology is too long and risky... I want an Open Door or elevator connection with M3. New binder chapter...

Haines has gotten better from last year, so the progression is good. He's as mean on top as anyone I've watched since I've started watching wrestling (about 15 years). I think he gives Crookham all he wants at states and don't be surprised to see an upset.

Now, now, Sullivan County had a population of 6,071 as of July 2018.

As a native of that area (a long time ago), that number is actually higher than I would have guessed.
87 black bears harvested in Sullivan County in 2019 according to the Pa Game Commission (there are a fair number of counties with more than 100)

and a Grizzly sighting in Sullivan County
