Watching him yesterday, this kid is clearly not ready for prime time. He was consistently beaten. Not saying he can't get there and become a good one, but he's got a loooooong way to go.

We all need to be a little patient and remember that Paris hasn't played

against any level of competition that would compare to PSU's defensive front thus far in his career. He now knows what he has to work on so hopefully he will be a little better prepared come fall. Remember that iron sharpens iron.

Gee, what do you mean? I was lead to believe that if we did not sign him that we would never win another FB game! Will he get better? I certainly hope so!!!!!!!

+1. And if he doesn't get bigger and better by August I believe we

will see on of the redshirt freshman playing OT, possibly with Nelson moving to LT. Regardless if Palmer can be redshirted or not.

Obviously Palmer is being given every opportunity to win the job. But in Fall camp it will be about putting the best 5 OL kids in the starting lineup. I have not seen enough of Wright to get on his bandwagon, or Brosnam or Sorrell. But Wright has the size to not get bowled over which is what will happen to Palmer against a B10 DL if he plays at his current power forward body type.

Hard to square his performance with his Rivals rating...seems to be at

least a year away.

Although an allusion to "Paris" and the Maginot Line might be apt

he did not appear to hinder the advance of the opposition very well

Re-watched the game and........

his play wasn't as bad as a I first thought. He got beat a couple of times and he made a couple of mental mistakes. But he also blocked his man well a bunch of times.

You really do make this message board a better site to read. Your sense of humor is awesome ... thank you for your contributiuons.

Re: We all need to be a little patient and remember that Paris hasn't played

I'd bet he realized what he needs to work on during the first Spring practice. But ur point regarding the adjustment to playing against a legit major college DL is right on.

Needs to add muscle and improve technic. He got beat a few times, but also played reasonably well at times too. I think he will get there in time.

Re: Hard to square his performance with his Rivals rating...seems to be at

when we say a year away, that is not a good sign. I think he will be going into his 4th year out of high school, so could be a senior. as I understand he cannot redshirt, so he needs to play and be productive during these two years.

he has big schools chasing him, so something seems amiss. hoping a miracle occurs between now and next fall. with our lack of depth and even starting skill, it is hard to imagine why some of the true FR might not impact the depth chart.

I certainly hope you are right Joe, and that he gets there in time. However, to say he was beat "a few times", is to vastly understate what happened. He was beaten repeatedly on Saturday, and there were very few plays where he looked good. That said, he does have time to add weight and make improvements. Let's hope that is the case.

What did you people expect??!!!

The opinions on here are so silly and uninformed.

1) LT is one of the 3-4 most difficult positions to learn and maybe the single most demanding physically.
2) The gap between JC to Power 5 conference football is HUGE. Probably as big as the leap between HS and college.
3) Palmer is a marvelous athlete who, if he can put on 30 pounds, will have the athleticism to play in the B10 -- but that is a lot of weight to add in a short time. It might be more realistic to expect him to contribute in 2016.
4) This is April folks. Palmer has been in State College for a little over three months.
5) None of this changes the fact that Palmer was a big get for Franklin. Any time you can get someone with that kind of size and athletic ability, you've got reason to be excited. But being reading to play in the B1G is another matter entirely.

6) Be FANS guys. Enjoy these student athletes, support them, criticize them if you want, but try to be realistic in your expectations.
