Definitely a big frame who can stand to add 20+ pounds. Has the ability to engulf defenders because of his size. One thing he will have to improve is his quickness. Wasn't playing against the Big 10's best but got beat on pass rush protection several times. As left tackle, that could potentially be career ending for a QB. Needs plenty of techniques work to correct.

Maybe not the best, but Sickels and Cothran are not chopped liver. Still say the line will be better than last year.

I'm sticking with my widely criticized prediction

that the OL will only be slightly better than last year. Last year's line was pretty bad and that included 4* Smith who is projected to be a 3rd round NFL pick. So where's the improvement? Mahon & Nelson are the highest ranked recruits and I expect them to improve with experience. I expected more from Mangiro last year as a junior and yesterday he struggled in his first exhibition as a senior. Gaia and Laurent will probably improve as seniors but I don't expect much. Maybe Sorrell and Wright can add some depth but they're both young and inexperienced. We all saw that Palmer still has a way to go.

A lot of people on this board seem to think that the OL will be much improved. I think added age and experience will offset the loss of Smith and Dieffenbach but not a lot more. Let's hope that Hack can find a quick rhythm and that his WRs can do a better job getting separation. More quick slants and fewer WR screens than defenders were anticipating last year. It might also help if Carter, Gesicki, Brenneman, & Wilkerson can provide better blocking at the TE position.

Pretty much agree. I think we will have to depend on the RB's, WR's and TE's to make the Oline look better.
I think they will be improved just not as much as I hoped for. Maybe thats on me.

With Kevin Reiner at center, Hand will be able to move players around. The OL is definitely a question mark along with punting.

Third round pick? Lol donovan will be a first round pick. Hell he was invited TO the draft!

When I close my eyes, I'm hopeful that another year will give

the young OL the time they needed to fill out and get some confidence. Alas, then I look at the facts, I am a little more pessimistic. It's not like the opposing D linemen haven't had the same year to get better. If Donovan Smith would have come back, then I would be a lot more confident. I certainly hope bdgan is wrong.

Well, He's Honestly Not A First Round Talent!

He's always been a mid-to-late round pick and his play in 2014 really wasn't all that great.

To his credit, he's worked very hard and did well at the Combine and he's worked his way up the charts, but I'd be shocked.....SHOCKED.....if he goes in the first round. And I hope I'm wrong!!!

He's also being invited to the Draft because lots of others that will be drafted ahead of him have chosen to not attend.

God Bless Donovan Smith, but if the Steelers pick him in the first round,

I will be pissed.
