Anyone know how this is gonna work or if there is a better way than just showing up early on Saturday and paying as you enter the lot?

WE AREE!

I don't know whether to answer this honestly or not. At the risk of getting taken, the lots open at 10:30. I have 3 cars going in together our plan is to be in line right at 10:30 and if it is raining to get under the solar panels, if it is sunny to try to get out in the open to enjoy it.

I'll be nice as well ... Lots open at 9:30 not 10:30

My wife and I will be coming to the stadium from Montgomery County. We are thinking of taking the train instead of driving down there. How much will they charge to park in the stadium lot? $20? The train for both of us will likely cost more, but it could be less of a hassle. We would probably take a train from Lansdale and transfer at 30th Street Station.

What do folks think of taking the train?

True, but on Temple's website it does say $20... not really sure if that is for the other scrub games and not specifically for Penn State, but that's why I come here. To learn.

I know I thought it was $20 as well ... But the Linc said $40 when I called (though I'm hoping they were wrong) and there's a parking pass you can buy in advance but it's $46 ... Hence why I think it's legit $40 ... Ridiculous cost though just to park smh

Just got off the phone with a guy at the Linc ... He said if you buy in advance to reserve it its $46 if you buy it on game day it'll be around $20 ... Honestly he didn't sound too sure of himself but I'd bring $40 just in case ... Best case scenario you save $20 worst case you spend what you bring lol

Really? The girl on the phone told me 10:30 from Temple. I will call back and report back again.

Edit: It is 9:30. Damn it. Have to change plans.

It's been a long time since I lived in Philly, but as I recall the train does not go near the stadium. You have to transfer to the Broad St. Subway--and that's not at 30th St.

Looks like you can get off at Suburban Station (a stop before 30th St) and there's a pedestrian walkway to the Broad St. Subway.

*Or* you can get off at Fern Rock and ride the Broad St. Subway from there. I used to do this for Phillies games when I was in HS many years ago.

Great idea, in that you'll beat the crowds departing the game, or can go to XFinityLive after the game before returning home.

That said, the route your are proposing is wrong.

If you take the Lansdale train in, there are much better alternatives than getting off at 30th Street. To be more specific, there are 3 options that are better. I'll rank them in order of what I'd suggest, and list what you do at each:

1. get off at Fern Rock TC
- this is the 11th stop on the train. At Fern Rock TC, you would switch to the Broad Street line (subway), and take that all the way to the stadiums (AT&T station). You should take an express subway, as that would make your trip a lot faster. You could take the 1:51 pm train from Lansdale, which would put you at Fern Rock at 2:24. The express subways run every 12 minutes, so your wait at Fern Rock wouldn't be too long, and you'd be at the stadiums probably 45 minutes before the game.

2. get off at Suburban Station
- this is the 16th stop on the train. Once you depart the train follow signs for the Broad Street line (Orange line), and then take an express subway to the stadiums. You'd still take the 1:51 from Lansdale, and would get to Suburban Station at 2:45, and would be at the stadiums around 3:00

3. get off at Jefferson Station (the former Reading Terminal station)
- this is the 15th stop on the train. Once you depart the train, I believe there are signs for the Broad Street line (been awhile since I've been at that station). If not, walk up to Market Street, then walk 4 blocks West to City Hall, and take the Broad Street line (subway; Orange line; again take an express subway) south to the AT&T station. Again, you'd take the 1:51 train from Lansdale, would get to Jefferson Station at 2:40, and should be at the stadiums around 3:00.

Your return trip would be pretty much the opposite (again, suggesting option #1). The regional rail trains run hourly on Saturday, so for planning purposes there is a train at Fern Rock TC at 7:36, 8:36, etc. until 11:36 (the last train), and they would get to Lansdale at 8:11, 9:11, etc. until 12:11 (the last train).

As for costs, there's a few options. You could purchase 2 One Day Independence passes, for $12.00 each, and that would enable you get on the train and subway. I believe the Lansdale ticket office is open to 2 pm, so you could purchase the passes there. The other option is to purchase tickets for each leg. The train is $5.00 per person if purchased at the station, or $7.00 if purchased on the train. So that would be $20. for each of you, round trip. The subway is 2.25 per trip, so that would be $10 for each of you, for a total of $30. It appears that the One Day pass would be the cheapest rate. (I should add that you have to pay for parking at the train stations, but I think parking is free on the weekends (check the signs to verify)).

Don't take the train to 30th Street Station. You'd end up having to take the Market Street Elevated line from there to City Hall, and then transferring there to the Broad Street subway line.

I hope that helps.

You realize day of game Penn State charges the same amount right? Lol
Yep, and I'm sure visiting fans without a prepaid pass think it's ridiculous as well. I think most people on this board purchase in advance for home games since they don't want to get fleeced at the lot entrance.

And I have no issue paying more for a good atmosphere. Playing Temple in the Linc isn't worth $40 parking.

Anyone who doesn't want to pay for parking can swing by my tailgate. We'll give you a Natty.

I would DRIVE to Fern Rock. Plenty of parking available on weekends, although it's a pretty rough neighborhood.

Agree with both ... It makes no sense though why advance parking would be MORE though than buying in cash at the gate

Tom, great information. Thank you. I will print out your message for reference.

Happy to help. I just re-read my post, and modified it a bit to make a few things clearer/remove 1 typo.

You also have the option, as Lion8286 mentioned, of driving to Fern Rock, parking there, and just taking the subway. It's your call. I prefer less driving and more public transit, but if you did this you wouldn't encounter any waiting at Fern Rock TC for the next train to Lansdale on your trip home.

Was at the Eagles preseason game with the Ravens last weekend and noticed a sign that parking was $40. I would think they'd charge less for Temple, but who knows.

When I go to Flyers games (from Happy Valley) I usually park at 69th Street Station and take the Market-Frankford line to City Hall, then Broad Street line down to AT&T. Or park at Radnor station and take the Norristown line down to 69th Street.

My son and I are considering riding our motorcycles to the game, depending on weather. Since the two motorcycles would only take up one parking space, I wonder if they would charge us only for one space. Doubt it. Would make too much sense.

I called and double checked with Temple and they said $20 parking.

I don't know anywhere that would charge you 1 fee for 2 vehicles. Certainly Penn State would charge you twice. Take up 2 spots and tailgate in the middle.

I would drive to Fern Rock and take the subway straight down. They might even have an express train for the game.

I don't think you get off at 30th st for the subway. I think you would get off one of the Center City stops.
