First time at State College for a ballgame.

Any recommendations for parking? Called the PSU athletic ticket office and they had lot 36 available for $95. Is it easy to get out from there after the ballgame? Are all lots approximately $100?

Thanks for any recommendations.

I don't imagine any of the lots are easy to exit after a late game. There will be plenty of parking passes for sale by scalpers as you drive closer to the stadium. I'd pass on the $95 and take my chances with the scalpers. That price is crazy. I'm a season ticket holder and pay $100 for the year.

I always park in the Eisenhower Aud Garage and go past the Nittany Lion Inn when I leave and make a right onto Atherton to head west. By the time that I get to my car after the game, I usually encounter very little issues with traffic.

Is that a good way to come into the area too? 322?

I honestly can't tell you that because when I come in, I never go that way; I always drive past the Stadium exit and take the State College exit, which takes me to College Avenue. I then drive down College Avenue and make the right hand turn at the intersection where McClanahan's is, and just drive up the hill to where the Eisenhower Parking Garage is. You have to understand that on game days, I usually am on campus by 8:00 a.m. for 12:00 p.m. games if not earlier, so I don't encounter the worst of both the auto and pedestrian traffic in that area, which gets really bad as the morning proceeds.

Thank you for the information. My wife and I are staying in the Altoona area and need to be back in WV for Grandson's football game on Sunday, therefore want to get out on the road so we can rest in Altoona again on late Sat. night.

We plan to be in the vicinity of the Stadium before or around 2 pm. Hopefully, that avoids some traffic.

Are there ever parking spots along E Park Ave near the Eisenhower Parking garage? We would like to park outside and pop a tent and relax during the day and maybe watch some of the games on TV during the afternoon.

The Eisenhower Garage is basically right in the middle of campus, and the street parking options around it are limited, and I'm pretty sure that whatever there is has time limits and restrictions, especially on game day. As far as popping a tent around that location, I just don't know what is permitted by the university because I don't tailgate. Hopefully, others can provide you with more information about this.

I'm a pretty regimented person when I go to games. Once I park, I'll take a walk usually down to where Rec Hall and the Lion Shrine is, and then make my way into town and go into the stores, get something to eat, head to the Creamery, and then start walking to the stadium. The Creamery is just a short walk from where the Eisenhower Garage is, and as you start to walk down that street towards the stadium, you go past dorms that have lawns where tents are set up. However, like I said, I don't know whether anybody can just set up a tent on university property. Of course, that's not an issue at the lots around the stadium.

Just be aware that if you park in Eisenhower or another lot around it, you're going to have a bit of a walk to the stadium. However, it's pretty flat.

Had to take E. Park Ave for several yrs to access the H.C. parking. You won't find any parking along Park Ave to pitch a tent. There are private tent parties associated with University buildings near Park, but you won't be able to access parking there.

Your best bet to get back to Altoona after the game, without the hassle of a several hour wait, is to park at lot 36, jump on I-99.

Thanks for the information. Does lot 36 offer purchase on gameday or strictly through the PSU ticket office?
Sorry for all of the questions. I have been to many, many venues, (pro and college alike) throughout the country. However, I understand the parking is unique at State College and I do not want to get snagged in bad traffic afterwards.

After the game, Park to Atherton will be like a car lot. I believe this game will be packed since we haven't played WVU in a long time.

As mentioned in previous posts, there will be scalpers along the way selling passes. Waiting for gamed day to purchase the parking pass might be risky for late arrivals, but at 2pm, that may be possible.

$95 seems crazy from the ticket office. I thought parking was $60 face value per game for the yellow lots, and $20 for locals if they pick up passes in person in advance. Did that change? Maybe $95 is the game day walk up price?

If you don't mind coming up without a pass I'd recommend buying from a scalper. Since PSU has gone away from paper tickets, scalpers go for parking passes which they usually pick up for $10 or so. Then again, if you come in from route 26 you'll likely find a fan just looking to get rid of an extra pass for that $10.

Thanks for

I looked on stub hub for you and there are lots of passes in several lots less than $95.
Good find. Hopefully he goes there.

When I looked at passes to the games earlier in the summer, some games (WVU included, I think also Iowa and Michigan) had inflated prices compared to other games. And it was a dramatic difference. But what seemed new to me was a substantially large S&H fee in the $20-30 range and I think that was per game even if you bought multiple parking passes.

From my experience, you can never count on getting out of the lot quickly after a night game no matter where you park. That being said, I understand lot 25 is lightening quick to get out. Really anything in the North zone is NORMALLY pretty quick. I'm in 22 and I've only had a problem once. There was an accident on Waddle at the I99 ramp that backed overybody up exiting from the North lots from the stadium all the way to 99. 3 miles on a 2 lane road through Tofftrees after a game.

I don't imagine you will have any trouble coming in at 2:00 regardless of the route you take.

I'm guessing Eisenhower will be closed for a while now.

I see many people are directing you to the Eisenhauer Parking Deck

FYI that parking deck was closed yesterday when a sink hole developed underneath the structure. It's unclear at this time whether it will be back in operation by gameday. Good to have a backup plan if the Parking Deck was your first choice.

Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist are the places to score parking and game tickets. However, with the hype of our team and a traditional rival coming into town I would expect to pay a premium. I'd wait until a few days before the game.

Keep in mind that not all lots are sufficiently flat to allow for a grill, so if you're not familiar with a particular lot best to bring subs and sandwiches.

If you are the a fan of the visiting team wear some of your teams gear and make sure you know your top players. Be friendly and walk up to most tailgates and you'll be invited right in for some adult beverages and food as long as you're willing and able to discuss your team. Don't stay at any one tailgate too long and you'll have a great time. If I were from WVU I'd probably have a few flasks of peach shine or something similar. If you're parked far from the stadium just Hide the flasks under a bush when heading into the stadium so you retrieve them later.

Yeah I thought parking at NFL games was bad, but at least when you pay a lot there you're in a paved spot really close to the stadium. The PSU yellow lots are cow pastures with white painted spaces. The profit margins must be pretty nice.
That is what I mean by unique parking. Does it get pretty muddy on rain soaked games? Parking at Steelers games is only $40

Another question for you all,

What are some things my wife and I should do if we arrive early? Our lot is 36 by Hospital. Should we walk to the hospital and get an Uber into town etc for the early afternoon before going to the game? We have a tailgate we can attend with some friends who have an RV, but I was wondering about something neat and unique to kill some time and/or maybe watch some of the ball games.

If we sit in the lot for 5-6hrs We could watch some TV bc we have "DishAnywhere" app. but I would like to do something in the town or unique to State College prior to going to the tailgates.

(Maybe I should start another thread)
