What High School does he coach next season? Gateway?

The guy isn't a very good coach. Why anyone would wanna play for him, in front of 100 people is beyond me.

Pitt biggest flaw was chasing Wanny out. He may not have been the best, but he loved his school and his teams were actually better then the last few years Pitt has had.

He does allow them to jump around and squirt each other water bottles between the third and fourth quarter so at least they have that going for them.

Let me caveat this by stating that I despise Pitt as much as any PSU grad, bit I find it difficult to dismiss him as you do.

He took over a program with a talent deficit, lost the ACC player of the year to injury, developed other RBs, identified a different QB, and has gone 8-4.

He has also had a very good recruiting month.

I was not sure what to expect, but I think he is the real deal and will continue to make Pitt better if he does not get induced to move to a different coaching position.

Well not that recruiting rankings are the be all and all, but your post caused me to take a look at the Pitt verbal commitments so far and there are a number of unranked recruits. What am I missing?

They lost to every team with a pulse that they played. Had a bad loss to a hapless Miami team. Switched QBs but has shown no improvement at the position. The record is more a reflection of a weak schedule then anything.

Good recruiting month? He got a kid to recommit then landed a 4 star head case who was kicked out of Maryland in a year and only 3 schools offered him. The rest of their commits are low level guys who people here would be calling plan c kids.

I am inclined to agree with you. I think he is going to make Pitt better and a serious player in the ACC. He is also going to get some kids we want. That said, I do think we will be at a higher level if Franklin stays long term.

They don't have too many impressive wins, but Duke is certainly a team with a pretty good pulse, and it'll probably be a better win on the road than any we have this season (minus potentially Georgia and SDSU if they end up ranked). As far as recruiting goes, George Hill would certainly not be called a low-level plan C guy by almost any fanbase minus Alabama and Ohio State, although I agree that it's a class that looks like it has a lot of mid-level guys without too much by way of top-end talent.

I'm watching the military bowl and rooting for Navy. I was in the Navy as well as several members of my family and of course, I'm also hoping to see a Pitt loss.
Having said that, I think Narduzzi was an excellent hire for Pitt. He certainly has improved their no-talent defense. Earlier in the recruiting year, their class was looking horrible, but they've had a few decent commitments recently. Just like PSU had a couple weak recruiting classes who are now upperclassmen, Pitt's last couple or few recruiting classes weren't highly thought of.

Won't matter much. He has two more years at Pitt then he's gone.

Duke is 8-5 and really should be 7-6 if the officials didn't screw Indiana. They are a mediocre team. Hill is a nice pick up but one player doesn't make a class or a month..

They just gave up 590 yards to Navy. That a heck of an improvement. How does a defensive guru give up almost 600 yards and 44 points with almost a month to prepare?

They played a very weak schedule. Look at VT and GT records. This was NOT an impressive 8 and 5 record. The jury is still out!!

They played in the worst conference in the P5, caught Louisville when they had a down year, and only won as many games as they did because their OC, who has since bailed, bought a decent QB with him. With Voytik they would have been 6-6 again.

Next year with Richt, Mendenhall and Fuente there will be much tougher going. Even Syracuse had a coaching upgrade. They will be back to 4-4 in the ACC again if they are lucky. In addition they lose the best offensive player they had in Boyd and no one to replace him. I really wish Connor all the best with his recovery but it's doubtful he's going to come back full strength from chemo. Unless they put Whitehead on offense full time they are going to have trouble scoring points. And they get Clemson on the road.

I've said this before but they made a mistake firing the only coach that won ten games in over 35 years and the only one that wanted to be there. This was their high water mark for at least another decade.

This is very accurate...everything broke perfect for Pitt this year on the schedule. Played backup qb's in away games at Duke and VT. Virginia outplayed them at home. Won on last second Fg's at GT and Syracuse. They were 2fg's from 6-6 and two backup qb's from 4-8. I think a major step backwards next year
