Pathetic, worthless Michigan

On the one hand, there’s the joy of watching Michigan lose. At home. To an underdog. Harbaugh’s scowls and grimaces. The tear-soaked faces of the rain-drenched fans. Haha!

On the other hand, now what was going to be a big-time Big Game on October 21 is just a little less big in terms of media attention and national spotlight. (But I think it will still be the game of the week, slotted in prime-time and so forth.)

You do have to wonder how the psychology of this plays out with Michigan. Will they come in with an extra chip on their shoulder, looking for prime-time redemption? Then again, we’ve got the payback factor going for us.

The psychology aside, Michigan looks very beatable. Outstanding defense. Pedestrian offense. Second-string QB who was exposed a bit last night. If that’s the game their offense brings to Beaver, we should be OK. However, we do have a couple issues of our own on offense to work out.

At this point, I think we’ll be favored maybe in the range of 5-7 points.

I am happy to see them lose...can't stand them. Hope they lose 2 or 3 more. I hope we beat them and I hope Ohio State beats them. I am sick of that immature Jim harbaugh and his sleepovers. We control our own destiny. If we win out, we are in the playoff...bottom line. There is no way a 13-0 big ten champ gets left out. The only way UM losing matters to us is if we lose a game and are tied with someone. Otherwise....we win out and we are in....focus on us and not them.

Before you chastise and degrade them too much, remember, we just might need them at the end of the year.

and that is my point....if we really want to be in the playoffs we gotta focus on us....not UM, Not OSU....just us. The only guaranteed way to get in is to win out....if we lose a game, I am pretty much going to assume we get left out. An SEC team and O$U can lose a game and still get in....I don't see us being able to do that. IF we win out, we are in....100% lock. If we win 13 games considering we are already 3rd in nation, we are in. Bottom line.

I am always happy to see them lose and hope they get pummeled 5 or 6 more times this year. I hope Indiana whips them next week. If that means Gameday isn't at Happy Valley, so be it....can't stand them either. All PSU can do is win and let the other things fall where they may. Winning the BIG is and should be our primary goal and that is completely within our control...just win baby! Most of those Michigan fans are so smug with there above everyone else attitude.....knocking them down a few pegs is SWEET!

Exactly....we cannot afford a loss. The pundits and haters will find a way to keep us out. If we go undefeated, we are in. They cannot deny a 13-0 big ten winner....that would have wins against Iowa, UM, O$U, Michigan state and probably Wisconsin. That is a good resume.

Before we get too far over our skis, might I remind the Nittany Nation that Coach Franklin is 0-3 vs UM, and PSU is 7-13 vs UM since we joined this corrupt, favoritism-besotted fever-swamp of a Conference. PSU has to understand that defeating UM is one of the only 3 metrics that matter:

1. Beat UM
2. Beat Ohio State
3. Win the BIG Ten

That's it, nothing else matters with regard to on-field performance for PSU Football. Coach Paterno did NOT understand this, even before he lost his fastball. Coach O'Brien did not have the opportunity to inculcate this into the team due to sanctions. Coach Franklin MUST embrace this mindset. Rejoice all you want in UM/Harbaugh losing - I rather enjoyed it myself. But until we establish PSU as BETTER than UM, it won't matter. October 21st is HUGE in that endeavor. 7-13 is absolutely unacceptable and must turn around. Starting now.

It is still a Big Time Big Game, For Penn State. That defense is going to give the Lions fits. The front four, especially Gary and Mone are extremely active. The Mike is a great hitter/tackler. Their back four is physical, with good press coverage skills. This game has all the makings of a 13-10 game.
One difference I see between the offensive lines of PSU and the MSU team that beat UM? A mean streak. PSU seems to be a passive group, not up to a street fight. UM will be a street fight. MSU line was ready for that street fight. Just what I saw last night. Disagree, fine.

I'm quite sure we all want PSU to win out, but we have no control over that. So we need to look at other ways to help us get in if that doesn't happen. So I will continue to cheer for other teams to lose (UM, OSU, Clemson, Washington, etc.). It's easy to say just win out, but that's what every team is trying to do and it almost never happens.

Michigan, OSU, Wisconsin, and Penn State are the cream of the crop in the Big10. We need to win our games and hope the others in our division lose theirs.

MSU, Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota, are probably next tier, with Nebraska, Northwestern, Maryland, and Purdue very close behind. You might say that all 8 of these are fairly equal. Rutgers and Illinois are at the very bottom. There is a lot of parody in this conference right now.

If teams continue to stuff Barkley with ease it doesn’t matter what Michigan does.
PSU just has to keep winning, even when teams stuff Barkley. They have the talent and experience at WR and TE to get it done in the passing game.

Actually our own team is the only thing we have control over if you think about it. When our boys line up, it is up to them how they execute, how they block, how they perform. That is all they can control.

When I say we I'm talking about fans....we have no control over winning just like we have no control over other teams losing, but I'm still going to watch and hope they do.

So far I'm fine with teams selling out to stuff Barkley. We had guys standing around open all day yesterday and Saquon still got his snacks.
Except when we face a team that can cover one on one. Still gotta have an offensive line to consistently win the big games. I haven't seen that of late.

One, actually two things that i noticed that were pathetic about Mich was their fake acting for drawing penalties on MSU's sideline. That really should be unsportsmanship. I'm sure PSU is aware, let them hit the limestone, be a sideline full of matadors.

Much of that record comes from the time frame after the dark years began and the program began to decline.

From what I saw last night the PSU offense may not need to score to beat UM in a night game white out at Beaver Stadium. Everyone knows it is one of the most difficult environments to play and Okorn struggled at home....what is he going to do in the environment with a nasty PSU defense waiting. I think the defense and special teams may do all the scoring needed to beat that team.

Totally agree.

Here’s the thing: Our defense is on par with theirs. Our offense has a lot more weapons – to include the best player in the country.

Our QB is a proven commodity, while theirs is a back-up who was thoroughly beaten by Michigan State.

OK, offensive line, give them the edge. That’s important, no question.

Field-goal game, man, I don’t know what’s up with Tyler, but we’re gonna need him on October 21.

Still, if we get an even break on the officiating, we WILL win the game. Period. Write it down. The only way the bastards beat us is with zebra help.

And after 25 years of being screwed in this freakin’ conference, who can confidently say they won’t get that kind of help?
