Anyone know if there will be any live streaming of the match online on Friday? Also, any predictions?

Army's Knight Vision will be streaming the match live. Subscription rate is 6.95 for a 24 hr. pass.

Army's Knight Vision will stream the match. You can purchase a 24-hour subscription to watch the stream at THIS LINK. The cost is $6.95.

PSU's radio broadcast of the match will be streamed for free. The link for that should be in the Match Notes, which traditionally are posted on Tuesday.

I will be going to the match since it is under 1 hour from my house.
My brother and I plan to have a burger and a few beers pre match at the George Patton Pub in the Thayer Hotel.
Anyone else going?

I'm going and bringing along Ms. Tikk to her first wrestling match. Crossing my fingers that we can eke out a win so she'll maybe want to go again.
I read this before tikk, in a previous post. Didn't say anything then, but this is exciting. Tell Ms. Tikk I said hello...and do let me know how much fun she has :).

Mrs Fine and Fine jr will be with me. Fine jr is driving in from Boston. He's never seen a wrestling match. My goal is to show him that Penn State wrestlers are great martial artists and their skill will be readily apparent, even if the score is nowhere near close. Hopefully he'll get it why I spend so much time on wrestling.
Again: I'm local to Army, let me know if you have any questions.
My main travel advice is posted in another thread: If you are driving use the Stony Lonesome gate north on 9W from the main gate, there are zero turns between that gate and the wrestling parking behind the football stadium.

This clown, obviously, will be there, and grey tracksuit-clad. I land in Albany about 11:15 AM, and then am driving down from there to West Point.

See all of you there!

If you guys get a chance, stop by and say hello to SHP. He should be seated amongst the press. Every time I'm at a match that he attends, I always have a nice chat with him.

Just so you can recognize SHP, here is his picture:

My dad are heading up on Friday, first away match we'll have attended. Other than the Thayer does anyone have a recommendation on a place for dinner?

Thayer is good. They have a seafood buffet on Friday.
Not too far down the road is the Bear Mountain Inn.

Does Army have a home game Sat?
Any hotel recommendations besides Thayer?
No, football is Saturday vs Notre Dame in Texas.
Hotel: Plenty of hotel franchises in the area. Easiest to maneuver is just north of West Point and across the river at the i84 / rt 9 intersection, almost any hotel franchise is there. And some good restaurants.

...as previously noted, my wife and I will be there along with another couple from the Lehigh Valley...
...a memory from the past...
...the first time I visited West Point with the team was in 1952...Jerry Maurey, a 4X PIAA champion from Clearfield and our 137# varsity wrestler as a Sophomore (Freshman were ineligible to compete back then) went out to wrestle his first varsity match...he pinned his Army opponent in less than 2 minutes...when he returned to the bench he came over to me and whispered, "That was easier than high school"...
...also back then PSU only sent EIWA Champions to the NCAAs..Jerry lost to Lehigh's NCAA Champion George Feuerbach in the EIWA finals as a sophomore...no trip to NCAAs...
...he won the EIWAs in 1953 and lost to NCAA Champion Gus DeAugustino from Lock Haven 2-4 in the QFs after registering the only TD that year on Gus, then wrestled back to take 3rd...
...he won the EIWAs again in 1954 and lost to NCAA Champion Myron Roderick from Oklahoma State 2-5 and again wrestled back to take 3rd...
...he represented Penn State very well over his career...as did his two older brothers - Jim and Don...

Androcles, interesting story about only sending EIWA champions. I also thought I read somewhere, that PSU, in different years, because of location, decided not to attend NCAA's at all.

PSU sent no one to the National Tourney in 1928-1934, 1936-1938, 1940, 1947, and 1979. Also 1943-1945, but they were cancelled those years. Not attending in the early, early years was probably travel-related, but really since 1941, the only year that stands out is 1979. I was a graduate by then, but have no recollection of missing the Championships. Anyone remember what happened? I have a source that may tell me, but don't have it with me.

Thanks, love to learn this history, from the folks who know.

...John Hanrahan represented Penn State at the March 1979 NCAAs...
Yeah, saw that. Also saw a Sam Sallitt, so not sure why PSU is listed in the record books as not attending. Both lost their first match and didn't wrestle again, one in a pigtail, the other in the 1st round. Double elimination for ALL wrestlers didn't exist back then.

... interestingly Sam got a job with The Boss after graduation as a stage hand who erected and tore down the set for his tours...
...I'll bet he has a lot of memories...
