Not impressed. It just makes losing to MSU and Wisconsin at home and only winning one road game that much tougher to take. My least favorite teams are ones that tease you like this basketball team does.

First time a PSU player hit 40 points since late 1961.
Given how this team shoots at home vs the road, if I were the coach I'd practice every day in a different gym on campus and off if possible. A stupid idea but they have to do something.
If they can figure it out they will win some more games. Good chance for the next 2 if they just shoot a little better on the road.

PSU always seems to be one player short. Pickett is a stud. Absolute prime timer. He needs help. Too bad big John was playing this year.
One decent board hawk and and rebounder away from being a decent team. The three games prior to this were misery to watch.

To be clear Micah said that he tried to get Harrar a 6th year but had "no support". It's pretty clear what he meant by that. He said he even tried to create a petition on his own.
Just because this is a basketball thread, I'll post it here. That kid that went off on us who plays for Nebraska (Keisei Tominaga) has scored 22, 22, 24 since versus Rutger, Wisconsin, UM respectively. He scored 30 against us in 32 minutes. He has certainly earned more playing time!
Get Harrar a 6th year for what? There was zero basis for it. I don’t remember hearing this, but it would have had to have been a joke.
did he redshirt a year or have a year where he was injured?
In the last few years, I've seen it go like this RS/injury, play, play, play, COVID, 6th year.
Nope...he played 5 full seasons, 4 plus his COVID season. He would have had no basis at all for a 6th year, and I'm sure that Micah knows this.
Basically when we shoot about 60% from 3 and have Pickett go off then we win. Only happens at home every fourth game. Where was that against MSU, Wisky? Nowhere to be found. Then on the road we are lucky if we make uncontested layups. Not to mention our defense now is bad.
So with that history we will beat either MD or Rutgers at home by shooting 80% from 3. The other we lose most likey by being outplayed the last 3 minutes after having a 5 point lead.
Then looking like we lose all 3 road games because well we just don't win on the road.
Then probably win our first BTT game just to keep hopes alive for our desperate fans all to lose in some agonizing way in the quarters. Probably some kind of blown lead in the last couple of minutes or good comeback that comes up short.

Jalen Pickett is just amazing and we need to acknowledge this and spread it around.
As far as PSU hoops goes, I sadly thought they played their way out of NCAA tournament consideration the past two weeks, but the one good thing about their upcoming schedule is that they have opportunities to get quality wins if they go on a hot streak.
In any case, I think Coach Shrew has the program on the right track. Loses some good players next year, then we'll see how quickly he can get a young squad up to speed.

The good news is in the game yesterday they also got quite a few good looks inside and going to the hoop. Clary looked especially good going to the basket. That also helped get them to the foul line 19 times. Hopefully they can continue that.
Clary still looks a little out of control but much less so. He's gaining confidence.
Too early to say. Pickett, Funk, Dread, and Lundy are 90% of the offense. We don't have impact sophomores and juniors moving up so we'll have to rely on freshmen and transfers. Clary shows promise but he has a long way to go to replace Pickett. Nije s/b better but he's still another year away IMO.
PSU could go straight to the bottom of the conference unless they land a couple of impact players from the portal.
That’s what is so disappointing about this season: PSU is in the lower third of an underwhelming conference with those players.
I mean, the Big Ten is pretty clearly the second best conference in the nation (albeit well behind the Big 12)…far from underwhelming.
If the Big 10 really is the second best conference this season, which I don’t think that it is despite what any metrics say, that just tells you how far college basketball has fallen. I’ve been watching Big 10 basketball since the late 1970s, and this season is one of the most nondescript in a long time.
The fact that this Purdue team, which really is not a great team and really only has one dominant player, only has lost three conference games also tells you a lot. This Purdue team would have several more losses in many previous Big 10 seasons.

We will beat Minny on the road by double digits! Then it will be a dogfight to win 3 of the last 4 to make the dance! I give us a decent chance of winning in Columbus too! Book it!!!

I think that Purdue is better than you're giving them credit for...while Edey is their only star, he's one of the most dominant players that we've seen in a long time. Even beyond their 12-3 in the conference, they put up a really strong non-conference performance (Marquette, Gonzaga, Duke, West Virginia). They will be really dangerous in March.
