Football Penn State Football Cornerback Cam Miller to Enter the Transfer Portal

Imagine this is the staff’s doing. definitely a liability in man against better receivers and a pretty weak tackler.

Then why was he ever on the field late in the fourth quarter without any apparent help? Just a terrible decision and alignment.
Great question. I have no idea why they thought putting him in press coverage was a good idea.

If there ever was a time to play a zone defense, that was the time. The clock was in our favor even if they had completed a bunch of short passes and got in the red zone; they probably only would’ve had a couple of minutes and the field would’ve shortened, which would’ve been easier to defend, especially with little threat of the run.

He had help. The problem was, he fell so early that the WR had a 20 yard cushion. Reed then tries to cut the guy off and trips on the cutback.

They don't call it "luck of the Irish" for nothing.

Somebody was definitely leaving and I'm not surprised it was him.

Article says less than 7 minutes - reality is that the play in question was snapped with 4:38 remaining. No way should your secondary give up a 15 yard pass and 39 yard run-after-catch (54 yard TD) with a 7 point lead and 4 and one-half minutes remaining whether primary coverage slipped or not. Just no possible way that your secondary should be in a formation where there is effectively zero deep help on that play when PSU had a 7 point lead (Miller went down almost immediately and it took forever for help to get there.... and when Reed finally did arrive, he took such an awful angle, he had zero chance of making a tackle and his insane angle surrendered inside leverage which was his only shot of keeping runner out of endzone (i.e., trapping runner between you and sideline as you pursue - Reed ran almost due east-west as if he was going to be able to get there in time to contest catch.)).
