Not unhappy with the verbal, but 4.51 is not "elite speed" for a WR.
There's a lot of guys that run 4.4 and they stink. You can have elite short speed. You can be elite coming in and out of breaks. You can have elite ball skills. You can run elite patterns. And 4.5 is good speed.

Marvin Harrison Jr ran a 4.46 as a Sr in HS. This kid doesn't graduate for another year. Look at the combine times for WRs and the majority are above 4.4. His speed may not be elite but it's fast enough. If Georgia and Ohio State are offering then he can play.

seems a lot like all the other guys we being in and never see the field at this position.

Again, I'm not unhappy with the commit. Simply made an observation that the article said he has "elite speed" and that time doesn't qualify as such.

Kid is in 11 th grade. The testing numbers were before he even started 11th.

What is elite speed for a 10th grader?

Do you think elite speed NFL players put up the same numbers when they were in 10th grade?

There will be 6 years between the that test and the combine.

Right out of the clear blue! I can't say that I'm even familiar with the name. I trust the staff evaluations!

Guys like ARob, Hamler, Hamilton and even Dotson? They were pretty average WR recruits but did see the field and had nice PSU careers. May as well give some credit to PSU's WR recruiting and development during the Franklin years, even though many similar recruits haven't panned out recently.

There’s no being as picky any more with the new 105 scholarships allowed now. JF is very good at find quality 3 star kids and he’ll be able to take chances on kids that maybe he wouldn’t have taken with 85 scholarships. I think the 105 scholarships helps us more than other schools, under Franklin.

Parker Washington was a heckuva player too who has become a Sunday wr. The criticism for James is earned with 5 star whiffs like Fleming/ Harrison Jr. as recruits and Shorter and a string of others.

Heck- even Irv Charles suited up in the NFL after leaving us for IUP. So there has been talent- hopefully things keep getting better.

Jerry Rice anyone??? IIRC he lasted until the last pick of the first rd since he ran something like a 4.7

He’s young, that 40-time will drop by the time he’s a contributor.

He camped at OSU in front of Hartline and earned an offer in person - I’d say that’s all anyone needs to know. I’ve read he’ll see a ratings bump in the spring eval on most sites. Seems like we were in on him early along with OSU and Tenn.

How can anyone trust the coaches on recruiting wrs? We haven’t had a good one in years
