Forget the nonsense, we need the brick façade & other garish trimmings like we need a hole in the defense line. What do we need?

  • Renovated restrooms on the lower level.
  • Refurbish restroom on concourse level.
  • Better prepared food such as: fresh rolls or at least steamed rolls so that they are not like cardboard, better condiment (little packets don’t cut it) dispensers, fresh well prepared toppings for hot dogs, burgers, etc., well prepared hamburgers that are not dried out.
  • Keep the HOT food HOT; cold items COLD.
  • More vendors in the seating areas.
  • Ask patrons to remain seated during plays. I go the gym to jump up/down every 30 seconds. Some of us would like to enjoy the game, better for the jumpers to be a pane instead of a pain.
  • Escalators in each corner of the stadium.
  • Elevators (2) in the North Endzone, one east, one west.
  • Better information on other games, especially B1G games.
  • There IS NO NEED for seats. Want seats, we tear down the Beav and build a stadium for about 80K with seats for everyone. Course just about no one will be able to afford the ticket prices.

Remember stadium only used 7 times a year. Waste not; want not!

This segment of the article should warm the cockles of the heart of every PSU fan:

"Sandy Barbour said last week that it’s soon time for Penn State’s leadership to start asking the tough questions about not only planning for the stadium’s future, but acting on those plans as well.

“First of all, what are the questions?” said Barbour, Penn State’s vice president for intercollegiate athletics, at the Big Ten media days in Chicago. “What are the questions that need to be asked and then, what are those answers and what does that lead us to, to proceed toward?”"

So PSU has an Athletics Facilities Master Plan that is four plus years in the process but no sense of what to do with the centerpiece of those facilities. In case there was ever any doubt BARBOUR IS DUMSHIT (and so is Mike Poorman).

Art, are you surprised? Sandy has so many people with AD titles under her she thinks she is a CEO..... and acts like one with a response like that. The single biggest issue facing any AD are their facilities. The Beav is antiquated and needs a significant overhaul but let’s kick the can down the road and hope it goes away... and spend $70 million on the “Robber” Barons Royal Gardens which he says will bring 400k people (BS) to the region! Football brings 700k to the region! That’s the kind of leadership found in government and we know where that has gotten us. Now PSU is afflicted by it.

Anyone who doesn't realize that - by now - has their own head up their ass.

So would it be fair to say that PSU has no Master Plan, just a bunch of useless paper that it took millions to generate?

I can agree with much of what you say, but do not ask me to sit when the QB is launching a long pass to Allen Robinson in the end zone to tie Michigan!!! Just ain’t happening!!!:)

Surprised? Not at all. It's gone well beyond isolated cases.

If you believe that you’re an idiot or just incredibly naive.

With the way CFB is headed in 10 years may only need max 80k seats.
Cheapest face value White Out ticket is $120? No parking when it rains? Keep that up with other games and they'll be able to play on the soccer field with seats left over.

I can't remember a game where any member of my "group" bought food at the stadium. We all tailgate and I've never been hungry at a game or interested in any of the garbage they sell there. Maybe if there were more food options that might change.

I'm also not interested in rules about standing during the game. It's college football for crying out loud. If you don't want an obstructed view, become a Pitt fan.

Holy crap!

Listen, you don't tug on Superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask off the Ole Lone Range rand you don't disagree with Art!

Anyone can disagree, but without something to back it up, it's nothing but air.

Not referring to that type of play. I am referring to the even mediocre plays. It has gotten so bad where I sit that I don't take my binoculars anymore because I am tired looking at this one guys a$$. He has to jump up for every play. Worst part is he is about 6'4" or so.

I don'tlike people who have to jump up for EVERY play or some rug rat standign on the seat to watch the game. my private box with the 65" TV screen next to a refrigerator filled with beer and a load of appetizers sitting on the island sounds better each minute.

It’s not yet clear how much success psu has been in raising money. “Silent” period should have started a while ago and since they haven’t begun the general fund raising, it would lead me to believe they might be a little behind where they want to be

Why not just watch the game from home then?

Our last home game was in 2009, the end of a 35 years string of season tickets but I wasn't offended by people standing, for big plays, when I couldn't due to physical issues. That, and distance, are the reasons we dropped the tickets.

When there is a "jumper" who has to stand for every play and is an obviously recent student with a issue that all should stand like they do - but they have moved from the student section to the middle of the stadium the expectations should adjust. I witnessed a near fist fight over this issue back in 2009 or 08 and the situations appeared to be increasing overall. Balance and moderation are traits maturity should bring to us all.

Leaving it there, what is to become of the stadium and environs? No one seems to know, we get the same type of nondescript yada, yada, yada every five years to so. A grandiose plan ala Alabama or something far less. Since it won't impact me personally I'll leave it up to those impacted. I sure miss the stadium experience, can't do it anymore, wife suggested we take in a game but I'm not sure I can so time passes.

Best wishes to all those who attend, it is an amazing place to behond on a night game white out. Winning the game is even better, as in 2016.

according to the people I have contact with in State College one of the primary issues is that Sandy is absolutely NOT very good at fundraising thus far in her stint at PSU...hopefully something changes if true

That’s why a Deputy AD was brought on to improve that ability of the department to do so. Sandy is an administrator not a politician.

She just doesn’t seem to be very charismatic! ;)

That's not changing, how much time has to pass to see that? A disaster hire.

That works up to a point. Major donors (let's define it as seven figures and above) don't want to deal with faceless bureaucrats. At some point, the AD and/or head coaches have to be mobilized. If the AD isn't good at glad-handing, the program is at a disadvantage.

Sounds like your better off watching the game from home. You should try that out!

This is absolutely true. The bowl games are not even on major networks anymore. The sport is heading towards irrelevance; as much as I hate to say that, it is obvious.

What are you talking about? What bowl games aren’t on major networks?
The Rose Bowl, for instance. It's no longer on ABC, it is on ESPN.

Combine that with the fact that people are dropping cable left and right. Not a great outlook for the sport. Personally I think it's heading for the equivalent of PPV boxing

There won't be any major stadium construction until a Pegula-type gift shows up a the doorstep.

People are dropping cable, but signing right back up for all their channels via one of the streaming options.

Do you think the move to ESPN was because they were concerned about getting viewers or something?

ABC/ESPN made the decision several years ago that their better $ maker was sports on ESPN and other programming on ABC (in some of these situations). Same thing happened with MNF. Football will be ok for quite a while.

Gotta remember - Disney owns both of them: ESPN and ABC.

I think there are a ton of revenue opportunities but don't know the costs. For example, there is plenty of space under the stands that can be made into business areas (restaurants, meeting areas, class rooms, etc.). I can easily see a stadium becoming competition for Nemacolin for company retreats and sales rewards meetings. you can use the big scoreboard and let people run the field for a buck or two. You can have game day tailgates, meet and greets with former players, and a hundred other things. But that would take major renovations to enclose it and winterize it. I don't know if the income is there to cover the expense.
