"Penn State is 'all the F in'." - Pat McAfee

this is worth a listen. This may be the most exciting time for PSU football in the last 30 years.

Does Pat M thinks PSU had the $700 mil for the stadium and has no clue the school is going in the red so to speak from it.

Then he says on signing day if a guy needs $100k they get $150k, implying recruits. We lose bidding wars for top recruits for lack of nil??

If we got some new top donors and "significantly" more money then before that is great, but until we outbid for the Brandon Finney types, I think Pat M is over his skis with this.

Will be interesting to see how Penn State fares under the big pressure of the expectations that Ohio state was under last year. Not easy.
Agree. PSU needs to stop scheming to "surprise" teams and learn that they are just flat-out better some days. With two great RBs and a very good OL, we could just run the ball down some team's throats. Boise comes to mind (although in retrospect, AK may have been trying to get the WRs to play some ball for when we played better teams and needed them).

Despite my interest in the topic, i won't be listening to Patty Mac. I think he is the love child of Loado Commodo and Porpoise Bitch. No thanks.

LOL. I want to take a nap after the first five minutes. Exhausting! But this is in line with almost all of these TV sports bloggy talk shows....I mean, if it wasn't for beer and pizza they'd have no advertisers. (but I am noticing a complete disappearance of home owner insurance companies hiring TV stars to portray them carrying people out of burning buildings "like a good neighbor").

As you may know, I live in Eastern WV. McAfee was WVUs punter/kicker under RichRod (first edition). From Wikipedia: "McAfee missed two relatively short field goals in WVU's 13–9 loss to a Pitt Panthers team with only four wins; ultimately taking the Mountaineers out of the BCS National Championship Game."

He's Yinzer who was from Plum, Pa. A Yinzer/Hoopie. The approximate equivalent of a Virginia-native African-American Slave owner in NY during the Civil War.

AK should have started that process a bit earlier in the season, like about 12 games earlier.

My son-in-law is a friend of Pat. They went to Stew Virginia together and were bartenders together at a bar in Morgantown.

Lol. Pretty cool. I'm guessing Patty Mac saved a BUNCH of money with the employee discount.😎

I think it was late in the '07 season.
McAfee has talked about that experience a lot. After the game he jumped in his car and aimlessly drove all night with thoughts of suicide. He received many death threats. It changed him and his priorities in life. Hence his show prioritizes positives and respectful criticisms. He only makes personal attacks on ESPN higher ups.

Ironically, the bigger problem in that game was Rich Rodriguez. The day before the game he was on the tarmac in Toledo negotiating is contract with Michigan. Intentional or not, Losing that game allowed him to bolt early. Fans claimed he could never be forgiven…

Pat is hyping up PSU big time.

He talks about going to camp at PSU and getting recruited for a bit. He says dumbass Mike McQueary ultimately called him up and told him he “wasn’t Penn State material” and they took some nobody instead.

Pat played youth soccer with my son. I even coached him in a few tournaments on ad hoc teams. He wanted to play at Penn State, but didn't get a sniff, so he headed south. His media schtick is not reflective of who he is. He worked at a few local places in high school. One was the only local bowling alley. It almost went under during covid, but Pat sent them 30K so they could stay open. They remain open to this day.

I think he was a pretty heavy juicer back in the day. No idea whether that is still the case, but, let's say, his "verbal style" gives off that vibe. To be fair, I have known recovered alcoholics who still blather like they are drunk, so it is not a sure thing, AND I do not care, because I can't listen to him.

Not to make this all about RichRod, but check this recent story re: the claim that he was negotiating with UM BEFORE the loss to Pitt:

My understanding was based on word of mouth. I found an article that confirmed a meeting the Friday after the Pitt game but doesn’t address any prior meetings. Les Myles and Schiano turned UM down, so their negotiations could be instructive as to timing. Oh well, winning cures all. And history is written by the victors.

Pat talked about Penn State being all the F in again this week. He was talking about watching the wrestling match as long as it wasn’t Saturday night. The Royal Rumble conflicts. WWE is bigger! To Pat.

Imagine. If PSU converts on 1/2 red zone botches, O$U would not even made the playoff.

Big if w/ Franklin, I know…but still…

Are all ex-NWPAians negatively judgmental of Yinzers or just you? 🤷‍♀️

Will Knowles really matter? I doubt it. We are set to field the least talented front seven in decades. The offense got by with a lot of smoke and mirrors (motion, formations etc) in 2024 making the offensive line look a lot better than it actually was. The receiver position is likely to be worse. The schedule gets much tougher than what we have faced the last three years. We have lost to every legitimate top fifteen team we have faced since Washington in January, 2018, if not top twenty. Looking ahead, to me it is far more likely we end next season unranked than making the so-called playoff. We will still have a winning record because the schedule is weak and may finish ranked.

This WalllaceMart troll attempt gets an F.

Put a little effort into it, spanky.

Well, you can only try. Clearly PSU is doing everything they can to win this year. Others are too. I am happy PSU is all in. First is effort. Later will be results.

WallaceMart say: "Do you even troll, brah?!"

Save yourself the time and effort and just post "PSU suckz!!!" every time you feel the compulsion to troll again.
Um, what's this bi-lateral troll bullshit doing on the Pat McAfee thread? Lol.

@Wallace Breen is a notorious uber-negative troll. He's an uber-Joebot who hates everything and anything to do with Franklin, so he paints everything to do with the current staff in the light most negative ... and then he looks at it and says "that's not nearly negative enough. I have to make up even more outrageously negative nonsense." If PSU wins a Natty under Franklin, he'll swoop in to tell us how it was a paper natty because of injuries to the other squads, an easy schedule, some other nonsense no reasonable person could dream up, and then a bunch of other nonsense on top of that nonsense. And then he'll say it wasn't nearly as impressive as JoePa's Nattys.

"The schedule gets much tougher than what we have faced the last three years...the schedule is weak..."

Within the same paragraph, our schedule was classified as "much tougher" and "weak". The only thing consistent about Peggy Pigeon is that all of his takes are trash. Alas...

Our schedule is weak by Big Ten standards but much tougher than the last three seasons. It really isn't that hard.

Everything thing I saw is realistic, not negative, not positive. Realistic. I was equally critical of Joe. The second half of the Dark Years were largely preventable. he failed to reign in Tom Bradley's well documented tendencies putting us in position to allow officials to give Michigan a chance to derail a perfect season in 05. He did the same in 08 at Iowa giving officials a chance to call a ticky tack penalty handing a game to Iowa which did kill a title because we would have laid waste to Florida.
