Wrestling Penn State Picks Up Commitment From Jayden James

Proud Of You Yes GIF

Yeah, I immediately went to Willie’s rankings on Rokfin and started sleuthing and he was one of my 2-3 possibles. I couldn’t find the “beating one of David’s top recruits” tie in, though, so I wasn’t positive.
That was my fault. I had narrowed it down to James or Joey Canova, Bergen Catholic guy committed to Princeton projected to 174. Canova beat Eric Guerrero's kid at Fargo last year.

James is the better prospect of the two.

I thought it was James based off Dice’s hint and the KD connection but wow! James must think it will work weight wise with Duke if he’s committing. But the logjam just grows at 157-197 in 2026-2027: Kasak, Duke, James, MM, Asher, Henckel, Ryder, Barr, Little Mirasola

9 guys for 5 weights even with redshirt years there could be issues:
However I think what most likely happens is Duke RS next year then in 2027 MM goes 174 with Duke and Kasak 157/165 while James RS then fills in for Kasak. Once MM graduates 174 is filled by Asher/Henckel/Ryder/new recruit

James still has a year left of a HS. After that and a redshirt year, 157 should clear out. Mitch will also be gone by then. Good chance he and Duke are B2B in the lineup.

Perhaps we want Jaymes to settle in at 149, as SVN will be in his last year when Jaymes arrives, and we only have Perry there (no offense intended to Perry) unless I am forgetting someone.
Blaze at 141, Jaymes 149, and then the logjam.

As for Mesenbrink, I dont see him ever outgrowing 165, just based on his build now.

I thought James has a win over Guerrero as well a couple of years ago. Maybe a different Guerrero. My bad.

Anyway, this was the guy I was hinting about. Great get!

Maybe he can stay at 149?

Noticed no mention of Joe Sealy…. Saw the rumor about him portalling, but is that confirmed?

Let him eat. Herring can succeed Shayne at 149.

Damn, Ono and James. I didn't realize it was possible to win the week after the Championships too.
In the last 6 days we saw the following:

Thursday - went 20-0 on day one to put all 10 wrestlers in quarters

Friday - sent 3 wrestlers to the finals and began a blitzkrieg thru the consis

Saturday - completed a 17-1 demolition of the consi round, won 2 individual titles, including the first ever 5 time national champion, wrapped up 12th title in 14 years

Sunday - recovered from 3 day hangover

Monday - land commitment from Ono, described by Ben Askren recently as the best wrestler on Earth

Tuesday - land commitment from #4 prospect of class of 2026

Can hardly wait to see what tomorrow brings 😱🤯🤗
