Also went 9-4 last year and beat Wazzu I want to say in a bowl last year. Jim M is a solid coach as well. With that being said, disappointing at the LOS today, but a win is a win.Didn't realize this until I looked at their Profile page, but CMU put up 44 points against current #9 Okie State. They average 480 Offensive YPG. They're a better team than their record suggests - especially offensively.
PSU didn't play well. But CMU will likely win 8 or 9 again this year. Also went 9-4 last year and beat Wazzu I want to say in a bowl last year. Jim M is a solid coach as well. With that being said, disappointing at the LOS today, but a win is a win.

Third straight game the D holds an opponent under 20. We still give up too many on 3rd and long and the LBs are brutal covering slants and the middle of the field, but I like this attacking D more under Diaz than Pry. The latter was death by a thousand cuts. Yes, we have and will get burned by Diaz's aggressiveness, but I'd rather go down that wayOh, no doubt - we played extremely flat today. The defense played extremely well in the 2nd half shutting them out - especially when I went and looked at their offensive stats for the season. CMU has a very good offense - they're averaging 475 Offensive YPG and over 30 PPG (and those numbers weren't put up against cupcakes - they lost to current #9 Okie State in their opener and now us).
Their offense tested our defense and in the long run, that game will pay dividends for us. Our defense will improve much more playing a good offensive team like that than a cupcake.
I've always believed that when you are substituting liberally, you run the risk of sacrificing intensity and cohesiveness ....if you catch my drift. You can't be thrilled with the overall play, but all things considered, you can only achieve 2 goals against an OOC opponent.....win and develop some experience and depth.Oh, no doubt - we played extremely flat today. Win convincingly….let’s face it, once CMU fumbled the punt and PSU scored, the game was over. They never were really a threat after that. First half was bad, but many teams play a bad first half against lesser opponents.I've always believed that when you are substituting liberally, you run the risk of sacrificing intensity and cohesiveness ....if you catch my drift. Truth be told....I was a bit disappointed in what I would call "erratic" execution on offense.Win convincingly….let’s face it, once CMU fumbled the punt and PSU scored, the game was over. Defense continues to give up 3rd and long, at a rate that makes me uncomfortable. I sense that while they have kept Auburn and CMU off the board despite this tendency, it will likely be fatal against better competition.
But I'm on fanboy cloud nine when I see Allen, Singleton, Carter, Sutton, Aller etc.....CJF has delivered some big time talent with this freshman class.
Yeah late in the game there were 9 true freshman playing on defenseTruth be told....I was a bit disappointed in what I would call "erratic" execution on offense.

The turn overs are encouraging.Defense is still improving. The defense shut CMU out in the 2nd half. Not sure CMU is inferior competition on the offensive side of the ball - they're offense has put up big numbers this year (they scored 44 against current #9 Okie State in a 58-44 loss). This is Diaz's first year, the D will continue to improve imho as they get more and more game experience with Diaz's schemes. The D had 5 takeaways today and they shutout a very good CMU offensive team in the 2nd half - that can't be overlooked.
I think we got up 14-0, and the kids thought it was over! Good lesson! After the emotional win at Auburn last week, it was easy to imagine a letdown this week and a lackluster performance and that’s what we got. Fortunately, we also got a 19 point win while other top teams are being upset or narrowly escaping with OT wins.
It is SUCH a refreshing thing to see us actualy start to convert these interception opportunities. Now THAT is such a rush of a feeling when we just totally change the momentum. When the defense can be offensive, that's what it's all about! The turn overs are encouraging.
When we play aggressive with man in the secondary we do well. When we go to zone, we leave the middle and underneath exposed way to much. If the rush doesn't get there fast it is not good. Hopefully we were just not showing much as opposed to getting exposed.Third straight game the D holds an opponent under 20. Many have played an entire game bad against much lesser teams. We see it every week like Notre Dame losing to app St or Texas A&M to whichever non-power 5 beat them or even some of these ranked teams this week with 1 score wins over non-power 5 opponents.Win convincingly….let’s face it, once CMU fumbled the punt and PSU scored, the game was over. What scares me is not the let down after 14-0, it's Jake Pinegar and his kicking. Playoff teams don't bite their nails after every PAT and attempted field goals. But but I do. Didn't we steal him from Iowa?I think we got up 14-0, and the kids thought it was over! Good lesson!
Can't disagree with you. Not sure what's up with him???!!!!!What scares me is not the let down after 14-0, it's Jake Pinegar and his kicking. Playoff teams don't bite their nails after every PAT and attempted field goals. But but I do. Didn't we steal him from Iowa?
