Match is December 6, 7PM.
Better hurry as they are going fast. Most of the better seats were taken by season ticket holders.
Also, Stabler Arena is in the middle of nowhere with only a few roads in. There will be a massive traffic jam.
The match looks close.

Some good matchups. I don't think the match will as close as 2017 but it won't be as one-sided as 2018.

Truth on the traffic. Totally sucks. I prefer Grace - and a lot of that is the logistics of Stabler.

I worked at Lehigh for 19 years and know the roads well. But I still got caught in a mess four years ago. You should have seen it when the Eagles practiced there.

Didn't realize how much Lehigh supports their wrestling. Pretty kickbutt wrestling complex they have:

IIRC, when Lehigh decided to endow their wrestling program they put together a dollar amount and a fund raising plan. 24 hours after the goal was announced the program was 100% endowed.
Not only do Lehigh fans support their program by yelling the other guy is stalling no matter how fast the Lehigh kid is backpedaling, but more importantly with their wallets.

It's funny. I've been to a lot of different college wrestling venues for matches. But Rec Hall is the only one where when a homer yells out stalling, he gets the "Child, please" reaction from the people around him.

That only happens in your imagination. Plenty of fans in Rec Hall yell out for stalling and I have NEVER heard anyone call them out for it.

...I have 2 season tickets to Lehigh wrestling... they have a nice home schedule this year and NONE of those matches conflict with Penn State’s home matches...gonna be a busy wrestling season...
...I picked up 10 additional Lehigh/Penn state tickets on Wednesday for the rest of my family... so we will be well represented at Stabler... :)

There are plenty of PSU fans who yell "staaalllin" and occasionally it is warranted. There are several of us around my seats that will poke fun at some of the "stall" cheers.
A couple years ago a guy sitting close by snapped, "shit, we sound too much like Iowa".

Sure, odd behaviors happen in corners of every venue, every sport. I took NoVa's post differently, it seems. Implying an entire fan base behaves like one guy near you (not "you" as in nitlion or matter, but you as in any-fan), isn't fair to the thousands that are mostly respectable, cheering loud but not obnoxious.

Lehigh's coach does a great job with developing his wrestlers. But they tend to be counter punchers. Keep it close and hope for the opponent to screw up. I hate the way they use the crab ride.
FYI, I am a fan who never wrestled so feel free to challenge my opinions.

By all means ... have an opinion, it's what makes the world go around. Just not sure why you quoted my post, which was about fan behavior. Btw, I'm not a crab ride fan either ... resets should be called quickly if no attempt to turn the ride into a scoring offensive move.

Just to explain my profile name Callthestall, I truly am not one to ever yell stalling at a match. I do get discouraged watching mostly high school matches and the ref does not use his ability to create action. Or chooses to call the first stall with 15 seconds left in match knowing full well that he probably will not make another stall call.
My frustrations of above statement go back to when Nunamaker was coaching Nazareth. His wrestlers would get a lead against a talented kid and would do nothing but work edge of mat and counter shots the rest of the match. No ref in District 11 would call the stall until match was all but done.
I think that is why I enjoy Penn State's philosophy on the mat.

Clearfield was the same when I was in school. They would get the lead then wrestle the rest of the match with a foot on the line. Thing was, more often than not those SOBs would first get the freaking lead.;)

you have to be generalizing a bit! As someone who came through that system, such tactics were not taught (70's-80's). Now in my case, if I didn't get a quick fall I usually died (weight cut) and tried to hang on!

I doubt very much that it was taught. I doubt Nazareth taught it either. My point was it can easily appear that way when they always seem to have the lead and your guys are the ones who are always behind.
MacIntosh and the Burak from Iowa. The hawk fans would have conniptions because Mac stalled when in reality Mac was the only guy who took a couple of real shots through the defensive hands and underneath to Burak's legs. Burak never took a real shot, never exposed himself to a counterattack and always stayed safe, even when losing 5-3 with 20 seconds remaining. But it was Mac stalling. When reality is ignored perception paints the picture in a manner needed to meet the painter's mindset

I got mine in the mail yesterday. First time going to Lehigh, anyone have suggestions on where to get a drink and something to eat prior to the match?

Nothing real close to Stabler.
Lost Tavern Brewing in Hellertown is good - great beer and a food truck on Fridays.
Taps on Route 378 is close - decent bar food. Same with the Copperhead Grill also on Route 378.
Several options at the Promenade Mall just off of Route 378.
As mentioned above, Paprikas in Hellertown has great halupkies and Hungarian dishes, but no bar.
Crossroads in Hellertown is known for cheese steaks and pizza.
Man, I am getting hungry.

For many years The Tally Ho at the base of Lehigh Campus was good bar for after match drinks. I think it was 1998 when Billman and PSU wrestled at Stabler ,I went back to Tally Ho after match. A short time later PSU Coach John Fritz came in and after a few drinks spoke very honestly on how Penn State had to catch up to Iowa on the endowment situation. He was very nice and honest about the uphill battle. He retired after that season.
Don't think you'll see Cael at the Tally Ho

Only if he is Fritzie's ride home
