No Hornqvist, Rust or Schultz tonight....all are day to day. Sounds like Daley will probably play and they may dress Streit as a 7th defensemen as insurance on Daley and to run point on the power play.

I don't know why, but I've just got a feeling tonight's is the night the Pens crack that Ottawa D for 4-5 goals (now that I've said that, prepare for another 1-0 game :) )

Hey Bess$ I'm at a Turnpike rest area heading home from Harrisburg. When is game time? 7:30 or 8?

Thinkin' the Pens broke through the second half of the game on Monday. They looked so much better. Malkin is much more aggressive, they threw a lot of checks, even did a decent job of clearing their zone. Just wish they would shoot low so that Anderson can't catch the puck and maybe give up a few more rebounds to poke into the net.

Pens win 4-.....providing no more injuries and the penalties are called even.

You aren't missing anything! Brutal start. Injuries may be catching up with the team. Defense has been terrible. Cole having a bad game (he's been very solid) and Streit looks clueless. Fleury pulled after giving up 4 on like 7 shots (2 his fault and 2 on the D).

They are going to have to score at least 5 now.

This team has played inconsistent all post season, but have been fortunate that Fleury has bailed them out. Tonight he was awful while the team played more inconsistent hockey.

Has Crosby dressed for this series? MIA

Couldn't watch .... better said chose not to. Can't stomach or understand such swings in Hockey especially Pittsburgh history. This is when Sullivan earns his doe, re, me. I don't know him that well but he seems to have the edge with these guys. My Bears dropped gamei 7 tonight. Don't invest the emotion in them either this time of year. I do and can't help myself when it comes to the Nits.

Could it be that the NHL wants a Canadian team to succeed even if it requires beating the "best player in the history of Canadian hockey"?

They can and should bounce back against a relatively pedestrian Senators team. That said, the carnage from the Washington series is paying a toll on this team, and last night's performance seemed to be an indication that the duct tape and glue that is holding this mush-mash of players together - especially the defense - has torn loose. The question is whether or not Sullivan can find enough capable, healthy bodies to compete at a playoff level.

Calm down, guys. Remember what happened when you fired Fluery in the middle of the caps series?

PENS. ARE. DONE.

I suspect that Sullivan will go back to MAF for game 4. Even on the goals that he should've stopped, there were Ottawa players wide open for rebounds. In other words, last night was a collective suck-fest, not just one player.

A "collective suck-fest" .... this will become part of Dibbs' ever growing list of terms to pull out of one's a$$ at the most appropriate times.

Many thanks Player2BNamesL8r

I have never seen the Defense look so bad. I was sick to my stomach watching the first 15 minutes.
It goes to show you the importance of Justin Shultz.
It goes to show you the importance of both Horny and Rust.
I expect a complete 180 Friday. Just like the Game 6 vs Game 7 in the Washington series. I hope I am right...

It's the Stanley Cup - - - - every game is a whole new deal. Who knows what happens Friday.

I actually thought they did a nice job up front creating scoring chances. It's a subjective measure, but I think the Pens - IMO - had more legit "scoring chances" than the Sens (which is of little consolation vav last night's game)

Anderson played as well as he can, and a slew of "an inch away" from a goal situations for the Pens.
The issue - of course - was on the blue line

Atrocious throughout the first period.
Just what one would expect with the resumes of the guys left back there.

But, if they can balance out the horrendous level the blue liners played at on Wednesday, with the outstanding performance on Monday...... they certainly are not out of it.

I do think Sully has a "not easy" decision to make in goal.
MAF has been outstanding throughout the playoffs....... but Murray led them to a cup last year and only lost his spot due to injury.
Now that Murray showed he can play, who do you go with?

Sully has been "right" most of the time with his personnel decisions - but this will be a tough one.

I hope you're right too, but I'm worried. I expected much more offensive output at this point. 3 goals?! Wow

I agree, and Streit was awful last night. I am not sure if it was because he has not played, but he would not see the ice again if it was up to me.

The blue line is a worry, but mostly because Daley is the only one with any kind of speed. Brian D looks like he has an injury of some kind. He does not seem to be playing up to par for his standards. Maata is a really good player, but he just looks so sluggish on the ice. Cole had his worst game last night. He is so clutch, but last night he was awful. He will get it turned around, I hope as he has been by far our best Dman this playoffs.

I would go with MAF. His defense hung him out to dry. I agree he has to make 1 or 2 of those stops, but my god, if someone makes a play, 3 of the 4 do not go in (the first one is a goal most of the time in that situation). by the time of the wrap around goal, he was already flustered due to not having any help from the blue line.
Murray gave up a goal as well due to bad defense (and an uncalled penalty).

I hope you're right too, but I'm worried. I expected much more offensive output at this point. 3 goals?! Wow

They have had the chances as BJF stated. A few chances that are goals 90% of the time for the pens, but they just did not convert. That very well could have been a tie game by the end.
and they have hit how many posts this series? It is so frustrating. I could not imagine being a player and having all these chances and none of them are finding the back of the net. Jake has 3 posts this series, and Phil has 3 I believe. Incredible

All the injuries finally took their toll. Guys not knowing their position, not knowing each other. Cole and Streit are old. Hope we get guys back for Friday.

Other issue was coaching. I am sure the Pen's game plan was to come out and score early to take away the fans and to force the Senators from playing their tight D style. An early Pens lead would open things up, conventional wisdom said. Also, attacking the offensive zone was supposed to help protect a weak D by controlling the puck. But the Senators came out attacking, taking advantage of the Pen's aggressive style and counter attacking very well.

Don't know who he starts in goal, either one is good. But we need guys back. Will be interesting to see how Sully plays it....attack or protect the D. But I expect a much better game as the Pens got embarrassed and should come out with something to prove.

BTW, loved the US National Anthem...well sung. And hearing the second verse of the Canadian National Anthem in French was pretty cool too.
