Football Phil Jurkovec benched at Pittsburgh, former Nittany Lion Christian Veilleux expected to start against Boston College

I, for one, will be pulling for the kid. If that means he leads Pitt to some wins, why would I care. I hope he shines!

why not?....their season is toast and they have no less than 2-3 more losses coming up....seeing the Penn State kid kill it would kill them....but I pitty the kid if he flops because they will be brutal!

I'm sure the Lair faithful are pleased that they are totally dependent on Penn State's cast off third string QB to attempt to salvage their season. Kind of puts some perspective on the shape of pitt's football program.
That has to drive the Pitt crowd crazy......an ex-Penn Stater coming to the rescue. Of course they'll double crucify the kid and the Pitt staff if he fails. How dare we take Penn State seconds!

All in all, Jurkovec is done and Pitt is done. Nothing personal against the kid, but I see Pitt winning 2 more games MAX AND FINISHING 3-9. I also expect their 2024 recruiting class, modest as it is, to start to have rats jumping ship. In fact, if he was a PSU take, Cameron Lindsey would probably have flipped to us already.

Going to be interesting to see if the board roots for Pitt now to say a Penn Stater lead them to victory lol

HTP: Check out his game against Rutgers. You'll like what you see.
Indeed, he looked very good. That’s why I wasn’t too worried about what I saw versus UNC. He was thrown into a poor situation, down multiple scores against a ranked team who knew we had to pass. He’ll have our bye week and and then the actual game week to prepare; I’m cautiously optimistic.

Similar to 2017, I’ll consider this season a “win” if we can determine he’s our long-term answer at QB, even if we don’t actually win many more games (he’ll be going up against a gauntlet).

I’m pulling for this young man, even if it means you win a couple extra games.

Really hope Christian plays well. Let's say good enough to win Pitt a game or 2 they would have lost with Jurkovec under center. They finish 3-9 and CV is the man going forward - everyone wins. Well, except for Pitt, but they really don't matter.

Do you smell rats?

After watching Jurkovec I'd wager they're just happy for anyone else to play. If he flops they'll hit the portal again next year.

Hopefully he’s close to graduating. And if there is a God he’ll have a great season and lead them to a couple of wins. Then he can transfer as a graduate to a real college program coached by someone who is sane.

I do too...leaving BC to go "home" must've been a challenging time for him.

To get benched for his personal re-match is pretty much getting an F on his report card. Sad ending but it is what it is. Over. Rated.

Go Christian- I went from neutral to rooting for Pitt.

Well, Pitt….’going home’….his third choice.

He first chased his lifelong dream and went to Notre Dame. Then he went BC.

I do feel bad for any five star that doesn’t pan out as long as they put in good effort. And as far as I know he did so.

Sports can be brutal. Injuries, flameouts, bad fits, and more. And to be a coach and tell a kid his dream is over is a tough deal too.

Wish him well in life.

Would love to see Veilleux do very well at Pitt, and have them improve from 4-8 this season to 6-6 or better in 2024. Gotta root for a kid that was all in at PSU even if he got passed up by a better player.
