11 years 300M, AAV = 27M, a bit less than what they added with the removal of Didi and Segura. Next to PSU FB I'm a Phillies fan, was there in 1980 for the series. Catch a few spring training games here in FL. Fast forward 10 years, Harper and Turner will be 40. We had the Whiz kids in 1950, yes, I'm old enough to remember, the Wheeze kids, I think in 1993 and we can project the Rocking Chair Kids in 2030.

Don't know about 10 years down the line, but I like the fit of Turner for the Phils for now.

Turner, 29, boasts one of the most prodigious speed-power combinations in the sport, having accumulated 99 home runs and 149 stolen bases from 2018 to 2022. A two-time All-Star, Turner batted .298/.343/.466 with 21 home runs, 100 RBIs and 27 stolen bases with the Dodgers this past season. Outs Above Average had him as an average defensive shortstop.

The fifth-fastest player in the league last season, according to Statcast, Turner is coming off his third career season with 100 or more runs scored.

Turner finished the season hitting safely in 132 of 160 games, setting a Dodgers franchise record for games with at least one hit, surpassing Tommy Davis (129 in 1962). Turner also recorded the longest hitting streak in the majors last season, hitting for 26 straight games from May 9 through June 3.

I'll take below-average years 7-11 if years 1-6 are strong.

I think the last few years are assumed that he'll be worthless. It's basically something like an 8 year/$300M deal but the last few years added on for "free" to get the average annual value down to help with building around the salary cap threshold. Basically the same thing they did with Harper.

Yep, and I'll absolutely take it, as long as Middleton is willing to spend, their window will be open for the next 6 or so years with both Harper and Turner. Need Painter to turn into what we think he can be, hopefully Abel too.

This gives the Phils a solid infield of Hoskins - Stott - Turner - Bohm that bodes well for the next few years. I would like to see them get a good starter and on or two relief arms. With better pitching, they should stay in contention against anybody.

Bryson Stott moves to 2nd base?

Hoskins is not solid at 1st base; maybe he gets better

I do like the acquisition

Wheeze kids were 1983, Schmidt, Morgan, Rose, Perez. Lost the World Series to Baltimore. Win one or two World Series now, lose one or two in 2029-30, I'll take it.
