If we still had 4 classes, could be seeing Cathedral Prep play Archbishop Wood in a slugfest. Instead both those teams will win easily.

If Interested here's the schedule on PCN:

6A I’d make PR a slight fav, Middletown a big fav in 3A. Southern a big fav
Really looking forward to the Pine Richland/SJ Prep game. If Prep is good enough to beat PR with Jurkovec at QB, hats off to them. That kid is a great high school QB. And he has a good supporting cast.

Southern should roll. This might be the best team they've ever had. And they're really young.

I saw Southern last week up close and personal, they killed my school, Dunmore. They are very impressive, talent all over the field, not just Flemming and Garcia.

Yea, I’d expect Roth to win a few more titles, pass the late Curry in wins and ride off into them there Hills

Are any PSU recruits playing in these state title games the next few days? Asking for my DVR.

Fleming with Southern Columbia for sure. Honestly not sure about any others now that Young is out of the picture.

Roth is about 45 behind ole George.

The guy at Dumore is also ahead of Roth, but is almost 80 and has to end out of gas T some point!

We have some interest in Kristofic (OL for Pine-Richland), Tykee Smith, Omar Speights, and Yusuf Terry (all for Imhotep), and Julian Fleming (WR for Southern Columbia).

I believe Fleming is the only one with an offer, but the other names I mentioned are juniors who are definitely on the radar.

Smith has a ridiculous game last week after Young was arrested. He is ranked 3rd in the state next year and surprised he doesn't have an offer unless there are off the field concerns.

Southern will be better next year

In addition to all of their returning players, they bring Gage Garcia's little bro in as a Frosh RB. Very real
chance they win the next two state titles and go an incredible 79-1 over a 5yr stretch. How the heck
do you win 79 games in 5 years???

It still blows my mind that Wood has become a power at HS football and has guys playing at PSU. We were terrible when I was there in the 80s. Go Vikings!

More on Southern Columbia -- very impressive

Southern Columbia rolls to record eighth PIAA title

HERSHEY — Southern Columbia capped off another perfect season on Friday afternoon, steamrolling previously unbeaten Wilmington 48-0 at HersheyPark Stadium to win the PIAA Class AA title.

The win gives the Tigers a 16-0 record, extending its own PIAA record with an eighth state crown in football.

Stone Hollenbach threw three-first half touchdowns, Gaige Garcia scored on the first play of the second half and Jeffery Cox scored two late touchdowns to pull away.

The Tigers won their second Class AA title in three years after winning six in Class A. Southern has won the crown in 1994, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2015 and now 2017.

Could southern Columbia hang
With Wood, PR, SJP or ECP? They sound scary good for AA

Southern Area opened a new school in the fall of 1962 near Knoebel's Grove. I was a 7th grader, a member of the first class to go thru all 6 grades in the new school. That was the inaugural year for football in a district that merged tiny districts that competed in soccer ( Catawissa, Numidia, Elysburg). The only taste of football came from a Pop Warner like organization in Catawissa, known as the "Red Skins," coached for many years by Richard "Cockey" Roberts." They started with a jv program....I remember attending the first "game." We went to varsity in 1963 and 64 under Pat Mondock. I think the records were like 5-5 and 6-3. Julian Fleming's Grandpa was the QB on those teams. I joined the program as a freshman in 64. In 65 we were placed in the Susquehanna Valley League and played the likes of Shik,Shamokin, Berwick, Danville,Bloom, Central,Selinsgrove (where I played against future PSU Safety Neal Smith....they actually had a better player named Roger Hoffman) and we lost every game under new coaches Jon Vastine and Dick Johns.
In 67 they split the SVL into large and small and we won the first title ever at Southern defeating Bloom,Danville, Milton, Central Columbia and in a non league contest giving Shamokin Lourdes its only loss of the season. In my senior year, we greeted a new coach, Joe Sarra. We lost our best player, a big 33 candidate, Barry Seidel to an illness in preseason and finished .500. One of the best things that can happen to any young man is to find a person who believes in you. For me, that was Coach Sarra. He remained my confidant, mentor and idol until the day he died. I'm happy for and amazed at what has happened at Southern (I still remember rock picking parties at booster events on the "game field.") But, behind the state titles and all the discussions on this board about bowls, rankings, Heisman"s etc. are stories about nobodies like me......kids who found a role model who changed their lives. That is what football is all about.

Archbishop Wood with a strong start. Two possessions two TDs.

No surprise, they will name the score. This game is already out of control. Their coaching and technique are so good. Remember, they beat the #1 school in Jersey, Bergen Catholic.

Yeah. Make that three possessions and three TDs. Making it look too easy.

Four possessions and four TDs. Peoples has well over 100 yards and 3 TDs already.

Gateway knows they are running on every play and it makes no difference, 28-0 with 11 min left in the half. This is getting embarrassing for the PIAA. Every game has been unwatchable.

They've almost run the same play to the right every play until the last two that Peoples ran.

They should just call it now. 49 - 0. Peoples with 253 yards rushing.

Kyle Pitts - 6' 6" 240 lb TE/DE - just made his 2nd pick of the game for Wood. Too bad he did gator chomps afterwards. He's heading to Florida to play TE.

I have to laugh at all these flags against Wood in the 2nd half. Gateway throws on every down and haven't been called once for holding all game. Against that team?

They couldn't have blocked the Wood DEs without a lot of holding.

Today will be the only day I root for Phil Jurkoec

As he plays for an actual school district, playing an all star team today.

Then he joins the Dark Side....

Pine-Richland up 14-7 at half. Mistakes hurting Prep. 95 yd punt return called back and they also fumbled at the 2 going in a TD. Snow is slowing down the offenses, but give both defenses credit.

Very disappointed, zero close games out of the 6.
