Pitt at Clemson on ABC national at 3:30 Saturday

I love Pitt fans. their season is in a tailspin. since their "signature" win against Penn State, they are 3-4. They've given up 30+ points in all but 1 game.

Penn State is 6-1 including a primetime win against the #2 team in the nation. the only time they gave up 30+ points was against #4 Michigan

but Pitt fans hold on to that 3 point squeaker against Penn State like it was a national championship

no one is talking about Pitt now, except as the punchline to a joke

yeah Maryland and Temple also acted like a victory over Penn State was a hallmark of their program. what does that tell you?

Just imagine how long they will hold onto this win. Hell when they beat a 5-7 PSU in 2000, they clung dearly to that one for over a decade like it was the pinnacle of pitt football... guess maybe it was.

pitt football peaked during the first half of a game in week 2

Penn State football is still rising

I would still like Penn State and Pitt play the last game every year Thanksgiving weekend which I know isn't possible. Looks like Penn State will romp over Pitt the next two years and most likely all three remaining.

Probably not..... but we can beat Penn State. Carry on.

Not really, Penn State beat themselves by dropping the game winning TD and throwing an interception while in FG range. But if pathetically clinging to the past instead of living in the present helps you sleep at night, so be it.

Also, your post is not in the past tense, no one in this world believes Pitt can currently beat PSU. The game in September is irrelevant to how the teams are currently playing. You might as well be beating your chest about the 1976 victory over PSU, it's also ancient history and equally as irrelevant.

Carry on.

Penn State was also playing down 5 Linebackers.

if Bell and Cabinda were healthy, that game would have been a blowout

Someone called in on the radio this morning and stated that during their game with Miami, at the 7min mark in the first quarter Pitt was given 5 downs and NOBODY caught it. Anybody here see it?

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to see it, does it really happen? Pitt's game wasn't on regular TV, it was on some obscure specialty channel, so I doubt it.

Vegas line for Pitt/Clemson opened at Clemson -20.5

how is Pitt a 3 TD underdog? they're the greatest team ever!

I'm surprised it's that close. This isn't really a knock on Pitt. Clemson is the #2 team in the country playing at home with a pretty dynamic offense against a team who just gave up 51 points to a pedestrian Miami team. If Clemson shows up, they'll be able to name the score. Pitt has to hope that Clemson picks this week to have a big let down just in order for this game to be competitive.

Clemson already had their big letdown. That was against NC State. I don't expect that to happen again.

This is good stuff.. Pitt is giving up 34.5 points per game. If you exclude games against Marshall and Villanova and only look at power 5 opponents, they are giving up 39.5 points per game. Defensive genius, indeed.

But hey... they beat a badly injured PSU team at home a few months ago. Sure PSU handed them the game, and sure that game is completely irrelevant to the current state of each team... but we are talking about the school that loves to ignore the present/future and pathetically cling to the past. And when they have no past to cling to, they simply make up national titles.

I hope Narduzzi stays there forever, he's a terrible game day coach, he can't recruit, he's an embarrassment on the sideline.. he's perfect for Pitt!

this is loser talk-- our kids settled it on the field and you came up short; the proper thing to do is to give credit where it is due and move on. I have no delusions about Pitt football-- I like when we play Syracuse, Wvu, and PSU-- we have lots of friends and coworkers in common. Pitt beat you, Pitt will be lucky to win 7 games this year-- it is what it is-- at least own it with some class.

I can see your point, but you straight-up said you'd take a sh*t season, like 4-8, if you just beat Penn State. That is absolutely pathetic, confirming what we all know and what the record says is your little brother mentality and status. The Pitt loss stunk but it's pretty clearly a speedbump on our way to a major bowl, lots of offseason love, and a top 10 pre-season ranking next year.

We aren't the team we were Sept 10th, but I agree it doesn't matter. You beat us. It's obviously your team's super bowl. Congrats. I'll take that close loss in the biggest game your team will play for the foreseeable future for where we are now and where we are heading. The series will be 3-1 anyway just like the last one, so congrats I guess.

I like the optimism-- 3 weeks ago this board wanted to fire Franklin... you guys are solid-- I will take 4 and 8 next year with our third straight over PSU. See you next year.
Therein lies the problem with Pitt fans. You'd be happy with 4-8 as long as you beat PSU. Apparently excellence isn't something which is important to you. I suppose we should be flattered by the fact you hold a win against us in such high regard. We have a great chance to go 10-2 which is a very successful season by any standard. The fact Pitt beat us won't keep me awake at night but if it makes your season, congratulations to you. Here's a quiz for you.... Look at the latest poll and identify the teams with two losses. Then try to name the teams which were responsible for the two losses. I doubt you could name more than a couple. The fact is the vast majority of people will see a record of 10-2 and think that team is better than a team with a record of 4-8 even if the 4-8 team won a head-to-head match up.

Congratulations in advance on your future 4-8 seasons. You won't be beating us but maybe you'll have a win against Wake Forest to hang your hats on.

Come on little fella and up your game in trolling! Don't forget to look for us on tv during the rose bowl, we will wave to you. Where is Pitt going for a bowl? Oh that's right they aren't ... o_O

They must have left it all on the field, because since then, your team stinks.

This is what happens when you play the only game that really matters to you, on week 2.

Dude, we don't care that you won. We're more focused on trying to get into the Rose Bowl. You've probably never heard of that game.
