Pitt "settles" for a new AD

There really needs to be a separate Pitt and Rutgers board where Penn Staters who don't quite measure up in life can go to discuss/poke at inferrior programs to help alleviate their obiously serious issues which would result in the need to talk about these programs.

It doesn't belong here. Talk about Michigan, Ohio St, USC, Bama, yes, that belongs. That is our competition. Making fun of Pitt and Rutgers is like making fun of a mentally challenged person. It is just unbecoming. If you have to do that for your own self esteem, please don't do that here.

But by all means start several threads about a guy who kneels during the national anthem.

"Penn Staters who don't quite measure up in life ..."

You're quite a piece of work. The nature of a person's comments should depend on how a person measures up in life? I guess you decide the 'measures'. You probably want to decide who should vote, also. Sounds like it.

Hey Luke, go to hell (figuratively, because there is no hell).

I thought that poster was being sarcastic.....lol Until we beat and curb stomp Pitt several times, they are a competitor. As far as UM, OSU, USC, and Bama, the Lions are well on the way to being back at that level.

Measuring up in life? I retired in November at age 58. Off to the gym!

Nice deflection. As a retired military officer and most importantly an American, someone who openly disrespects the flag (even if misguidedly coopting it for a political ploy) offends me and millions of others. I guess Americans should just stay silent when others attack our Nation in your opinion? Although, I suppose If you have also been sold on those politics, you may be more easily convinced to overlook the bastardization of the symbol of this great Nation and the undermining of its strength.

Further, anyone who repeatedly takes digs on lesser programs is likely to have an inferiority complex. It shows up on this board way too frequently and makes our fanbase look bad. Hey Penn State is obsessed with XYZ regional nothings, they aren't a national player. But we are. We just have some fans with little man complex going on trying to make themselves feel better at the expense of those programs with less success.

It's a disgusting thing. Anyone in life who needs to keep reminding people of less successful people/programs/etc, is likely doing it because they are insecure in who and what they have become. Does making other fanbases feel small make you look better? No, it makes you look like an ass. When we win the national championship next year can the people obsessed with Pitt please stop focusing on Pitt? It's tired and small.

The flag and national anthem may not mean the same to those who have been oppressed and misrepresented for centuries as it does to you. Jim Crow is not that long ago.

I agree that picking on lessers is small and a sign of weakness. However, those sorts of comments are not exclusive only to those "who don't measure up", using your yardstick.

Your language wreaked of elitism . I didn't like your words or tone one bit. You've flaunted your 'success' in life several times here. Good for you, I suppose, but I'm not impressed. The impression you make on me is one of a supercilious ass (and one who uses a misquote for a user name).

Oh no, he was serious. That type of post reflects his general theme.

Have fun at the gym. Pull a hamstring (same as 'break a leg' for actors, meaning don't, just in case you thought I was serious:)).

Talk about an underwhelming hire. Wonder if she has elite speed?

I live in Michigan. If true, this would be a very good hire. Highly respected Athletic Director. Great progress at EMU. Example- football program made a bowl game past year which no one would have ever expected from the EMU program.

Come on, Art. Of course. She just won a national award. HOME. RUN. HIRE.

1.) Loving your country and being patriotic doesn't mean you don't see flaws in your country and call them out. Besides, the flag and anthem are just symbols. The people of this country are what make it. I'm more offended by people who disrespect each other, than those who disrespect a symbol.

2.) As a military man, you should be well aware that one of the freedoms you were protecting was free speech. Not free speech that you agree with. And if you're that offended by someone disrespecting the flag, perhaps you're a snowflake needing a safe space to protect you from all the different people and opinions. ;) Yes, free speech has its consequences for knuckleheads, but they still have the right to be a knucklehead, and you have a right to call them out on it.

3.) As a military man, I sure hope you never talked about the militaries from any other country, since we all know the US Militsry has no equal. The Russians and Chinese combined spend a third of what we do, and those middle eastern insurgents? Child's play. We could defeat them and be out in weeks if we wanted. So I hope you never talked about them. They're not on our (your) level.

Someone of your elite pedigree should have the discipline to scan over threads that you don't see appetizing, but you couldn't help yourself.

Maybe you're just not as strong as you think you are.

They really need to make a board for people to complain about the rest of us making fun of Pitt.
Indeed. Seems on nearly every thread, someone is getting their panties in a wad over...nothing.

I, for one, believe Pitt should be derided, berated, taunted, and figuratively curb-stomped at every opportunity. I shall continue to do my part.

All true...but it was in approriate and the wrong venue. He could use his voice, as Steve Kerr does to push political views, someplace else and away from the playing field. Do you talk politics and religion at work? My guess is no, and if you do, you won't be there long. He talked politics at work, he is now paying the price. He has his freedom of speech, and so do the people watching. Its the way it works and I don't feel sorry for him.

Doesn't everyone make a bowl game anymore? ;)

I don't think they are worth an ounce of attention they get here...just a waste if time. When the Pitt talk gets out of hand which it frequently does, I just move on.

Assuming the article is accurate, it seems like a decent hire for Pitt.

The article failed to point out that Pitt's search team was determined to find a qualified female AD so they could continue to follow PSU's path to glory.

The biggest question that the article failed to address is whether she is capable of building a new pyramid of Ast & Associate ADs.

Heard the new pitt AD on television last night. Very irritating. I didn't listen to the nonsense she said but she has a high pitched Minnie Mouse voice - like chalk on a chalk board. We will have to listen to this for the next few years until she moves to a higher tier job or gets fired.

I laughed out loud when she said Pitt will compete for ACC and national championships. Sure they've never won either in any sport, but that all changes now!

She had some ridiculous quote, something like "Pitt will succeed, because why not?" It sounded like her strategy is "hope".

Good point. When was the last time pitt won a conference or national championship in any sport? It has been decades. Their athletic program is one of the worst in the country. They have nothing good to point at. Every sports program is sub-standard.

Pitt has never won an NCAA national championship in ANY sport. Pitt has one "legitimate" football national title, legitimate in quotes because everyone knows how they bent the rules to win that 1976 title. Due to some really bad calls by the officials, Pitt backed into a 4 way tie for the big east championship, and promptly got train wrecked by a non-BCS school in a bowl game. I'm sure that some of their Olympic sports have won a conference title here and over the years, but it's not like at PSU where we seem to win one every other week. No one really knows for sure, because stats aren't kept on insignificant schools like Pitt.

They won quite a few Big East basketball titles in the 2000's when Dixon was their coach.

I served with a very high % of those you seem to believe have been "oppressed and misrepresented" and I guarantee you the flag meant every bit as much to them as it does to me.

This open disrespect of our Nation and its symbols is a political ploy and nothing more. You want to improve things for the "oppressed and misrepresented"? You've carried their vote at 95% for decades and things seem to only get worse the more years you use them. Look at the cities that have been run by your ilk on the backs of their faith in you. They are in horrible disrepair, bankrupt, and becoming less and less safe. I'd feel less safe in parts of Chicago than I did in Iraq and Afghanistan. But as long as your team stays in control siphoning off the funds that might be able to make a difference to those you feint sympathy of their plight, right?

Responding to a politically driven post about the new Sec of Education with my personal experiences is "flaunting my success"? Apparently people aren't permitted to include personal experiences to back their views lest they are doing so to provoke envy.

Can we cut the chase? You don't like my political views and therefore believe that you must slander me and attack even posts about something as stupid as Pitt because you are incapable of articulating logical positions that support your political views.

You see, your views are rooted in emotion, not logic. You feel. You do not think. Otherwise, you might be able to read the first post of mine in this thread that has nothing to do with politics and not be motivated to irrationally deflect from the topic to insert your politics with an incoherent tangent. You might be able to allow an apolitical position on an apolitical topic to be lodged by apparently your political enemy without feeling the need to slander your enemy poster without providing evidence backing up your accusations.

Your actions are small and petty. They evidence an underlying insecurity that you personally have that you must respond this way. Why can you not read a post from someone you disagree with politically and be capable of separating your feelings about past political arguments from topics completely unrelated? I hope that you don't apply such personal biases ubiquitously throughout your life or you would have likely made some very poor decisions influenced by this bias.

Very surprising that she would opt to move down from Eastern Michigan. Maybe she was about to be fired and wanted to move on her own to a lesser program.
Oh please. Move down from Eastern Michigan ?? You may think you are funny but you are not. You left out the time she was at Ohio State.

Better pull those lemons out of your ears !

Not a step down and yet Eastern Michigan was ranked 61st in the most recent Learfield cup rankings while Pitt was 87. Hmmm....
Apparently being in a P5 conference doesn't guarantee you have a P5 athletic department. o_O

So Pitt finished below at least 22 G5 and Division 1-AA schools. I had not realized that. At least she picked a school with lots of room for improvement. Maybe she should make a statement immediately and fire Stallings while the basketball program may still be salvageable.

Steel Curtain timed her at 4.81 in the 40!That was in 3" heels,so she was hired on the spot! She's the fastest Female AD in the country, their Athletic Department will the fastest in all of the Ncaa.H2P
