I understand something must be done, mainly for safety reasons. And I understand people want too see nicer amenities and I'm fine with all of that.
But to consider totally rebuilding a new stadium, is heartbreaking. This is one of the most iconic stadiums in College Football where tradition is suppose to mean something. When you talk about some of the hardest places to play Beaver Stadium is one of them. But what other stadiums: The Swamp, LSU Tiger Stadium, The Horseshoe (Ohio Stadium). These are all old fashion stadiums, just the same, that have mostly bleacher seats, and not all seat backs. Could you imagine what an Ohio State fan would feel like if they heard someone wanted to tear down the horseshoe and rebuild just for chairbacks.
It is these stadiums, plus Michigan and Neyland Stadiums for example, that make college football great. The atmosphere at Neyland Stadium this past Saturday against Oklahoma was great and a treat just to watch from TV, just as a white out at Beaver Stadium is. Your not going to generate that same atmosphere or electric crowd noise if you re-build a new stadium. If I had the luxury of seeing games at other stadiums, I certainly would not choose somewhere like Minnesota even if they were a National power. I would choose an LSU night game or The Swamp in Florida where my cousin said was an unbelievable atmosphere.
Am I the only one that takes pride that we are the second largest stadium in the country. And realize there is no other atmosphere like a Beaver Stadium White Out! Even if your home watching on T.V. it's just awesome. You will lose all of that in building a new stadium. The crowd noise or white outs wont even be close to what we have now.
