I don't know the process for assigning referee teams to football games. O'Neil is clearly anti Penn State and the review of the Friermuth touchdown should confirm that. Since he cannot run the game objectively when Penn State is playing, he should never be on the field for our games. Do we have any say in selection of referee team?

A shameful nationally televised display of officiating last night. However, Toney may have gotten a break on the targeting call.

Watch the play closely.... shoulder to shoulder contact came first the impact cause both players helmets to make contact. If you call those type hits targeting then just remove defenses from the game and let the offenses play against the wind.

I think the Micah Parsons targeting call was exactly the same. Initial contact was shoulder to shoulder, but momentum caused helmets to bang together.

Since you are the WasteManagementConsultant, Where do you think O'Neill and Co should be placed?

O'Neill will be assigned to the game vs.Ohio State. I think we all knew that before the season began.

I notice that a lot of media outlets have articles about the inequitable officiating in the IA game. I’m not sure if this is going to have any impact upon officiating crew assignment in the future. I suspect the B10 hierarchy either doesn’t care or is happy that their plan is working. They don’t care what the national conversation is regarding Penn State getting screwed as long as their conference special matchup at the end of the season is kept as a premier game between THE two protected B10 “powerhouses.”

I agree, but I didn’t think it would matter. No way did I think that would be overturned.

Neither did I .... but it was the one review they got correct. Offensive players can just lower their heads now to draw the call.... it is ridiculous and impossible for refs to get it right without thorough review.

I do not believe we'll see the O'Neill crew again this year. Thank goodness this happened in a game early in the year that we could overcome and win, regardless. It was TOO obvious last night and it was in primetime. The B1G has to do something...at the very least not assigning him to us the rest of this year.

The newish head B1G ref Bill Carollo is a good guy and has spoken publicly the last two years about reigning in this kind of uneven officiating. Also, I believe Sandy will go to bat for us because her #1 care is $$money$$ and O'Neill is a direct threat to donations (If you win, the $$$ will come).

Except that Carollo refused to provide any clarity on the call. Even David Jones wrote a pretty scathing indictment on the officiating in general and the overturned TD in particular.

Sandy gets paid as long ad the illusion of competition is kept. So just schedule a few cupcakes, pocket 7 definite wins and she keeps her job. If she truly cared, she would have done something long ago. No - she was too busy picking on Guy Gadowsky about 409 helmet stickers.

It was also the side of his helmet that made contact as he attempted to duck to the side with his head and let shoulder lead. He did not lead with the crown of his helmet - and in fact made contact with side of his helmet, never the crown, let alone lead with it.
