Poor Joey Bosa

I hope OSU's new Bosa represents them better than big bro did.

Get a chance, watch the first running play against the Buckeyes is last years game (2014). Donovan Smith completely pancakes Bosa like he wasn't even there. Smith can be a real road grader, and that particular block was impressive. Goes to show that Bosa may not be the big boy on the block once he hits the NFL.

Can't believe this passes as journalism now of days. Bosa smoked some pot got suspended and his parents made him get his own apartment to stay out of trouble. And we are supposed to feel sorry for him.

Unfortunately, not unique to Bosa. After winning the Heisman, Manziel too stopped going to classes on campus and did his semester via online classes from his off campus apt. Mass media, social media, etc. make these students larger than life - which affects their ability to be full time on campus students, make smart choices under a microscope, get the grades to be eligible, and continue to play at a high level to attain their dream of an NFL career. I have some sympthay for them - they are just kids who are thrown in to this without being fully mature enough to handle it. Today's game and all that comes with it is weirdness.

Not the kids fault, it's the system. If the NFL had a minor-league like MLB does anyone think a BOSA goes to OSU ???? Just calling the payment to play football "scholarships" is the biggest joke.

Many athletes in basketball and football are separated from other students. Just look at the amenities and they spend over or close to 40 hours a week on their sport in season. Stanford still integrates athletes in campus life and I think Penn State does too.

Fans demand wins, coaches and programs that deliver make lots of money. When stadiums grew so big that students couldn't fill half of the available seats, and then sprouted luxury boxes for big contributors, it started down a road that lead us here.

We call it college football, but it has a lot more to do with football than it does with college. That's always been true to some extent of course, but the balance has gone way over and it isn't coming back.

Actually, don't see an issue with this. He is better off alone than getting caught up with some crap. The worst thing that could happen in his apartment is that he gets lonely and bored. Out with the other students, he is a target for someone looking to cash in, or even worse - he does something even stupider than weed.

He is safer in solitary.

I decry what college football has become. There was a time when, for most athletes, academics and college life came first, and football second. Now, for many, the reverse is true. The NCAA is corrupt. It enforces its rules arbitrarily and punishes violators unevenly. Fans often find meaning in their existence by following the daily movements of 18 year old recruits and the ups and downs of coaches making millions of dollars. Their daily lives are made better, or worse, by their alma mater winning or losing a football game. It's sad. It's pathetic. And I have been just as guilty of it as anyone.

Very few baseball players are ready for the major league right out of college. If they were baseball would use college as their minor league also.

The "logic" behind this is idiotic. It is like Brad Pitt saying I lock myself in a closet ehen Angelina isnt around bc I am so good looking I can't be trusted not to jump the first girl I see.

Bosa will be "set free" when he gets to the NFL and assuming that he is a ticking time bomb (as the article portrays him) he will go off.

There are countless examples of big time players succeeding at college campuses despite the fact that they are celebrities there. Look at Amare Cooper or AJ McCarron, Tim Tebow and others.

There are also examples of big time players getting in to trouble at every turn - Manziel comes go mind.

If the kid has a quality character and is genuinely a good person, then they can succeed as a college or pro football star. If they lack integrity and have bad character then they will find trouble in college or the pros.

You cant keep yourself out of trouble by keeping yourself away from trouble. If that is the case it is not a question of if trouble will occur, its a question of when. You keep yourself out of trouble by your character and the decisions you make

Do you realize what you just wrote? Do you understand how MLB works ??? Based on your comment you do not.

<Yawn>

Of course it's different at PSU. You guys wear blue and white, and we wear scarlet and gray. Other than that...oh, yeah, there's that 38-10 thing.

Apparently you don't realize what i wrote.

I don't think anyone with a modicum of knowledge would either. Maybe you should not be on a sports board since you lack basic understanding of such.

What did i write that you have an issue with? I said that most baseball players aren't ready for the major leagues when they come out of college. That's a fact. It's also my opinion that if most were major league ready baseball wouldn't have a minor league system. Other you being unable to comprehend what i wrote i can't understand your issue.

JoePa realized that having football players interact with the student body was not only good for the individual but good for the program. He had the vision to never isolate our players from the general population. He was way ahead of his time

Let's be real. That changed a bit as time went on. They have a lot of separate facilities.
