Another twitter drama....

But if you follow this stuff, you'll see that players and coaches pay a lot of attention to their twitter profile pic, twitter bio, etc. When they are looking for a job, or are moving to another job, the profile pic changes, etc.

Pitt's DC Josh Conklin has stripped his account of anything identifying him with Pitt on his twitter account. Especially important because of recruiting, and the school's branding is front and center for every coach.

IF....IF....Pitt had to replace their DC at this late date, that would be sub-optimal. For them.

A few thoughts:

1) It's normal for people not to want to be associated with Pitt. So he's only exhibiting normal behavior.

2) Their defense is terrible, so wouldn't this be a good thing for them?

3) Nothing related to Pitt is remotely interesting.

From a coaching standpoint, i wouldn't see a guy like Conklin as a game changer either way. Actually given his background in coaching the secondary when you look at his resume one could say they can only upgrade if he left.

less than ideal timing should he be gone, but Narduzzi owns the D regardless.

There are several under the radar rumors out there about Pitt right now, and none of them are good. If any of them come to fruition I'll comment, but until then I shall uncharacteristically refrain.

He became angry when Pitt requested a 3 digit scoreboard for when Syracuse comes to town...

Really weird if he left at this time of year, but as said, very replaceable and no big deal.

I think it points to some dysfunction in their program if in fact they are losing/changing DC's now. The coaching carousel is December/January. Very, very rare to lose a coach 2 weeks before camp begins. Think of the preparation that has gone into the plans for the season, and you're going to bring on someone new now? Crazy.

Ironic if a young Pitt team had to go on the road to play the second game of the season at PSU while installing a new defense. The only difference is that this year, half the stadium will not be filled with opposing fans, and the score isn't going to be so close.

Given what we know about Narduzzi and his less than stellar temperament and personality, my guess would be that Conklin and Narduzzi had a blow up and Conklin quit.

Are you suggesting that ASWP's defense could be even more "sub-optimal" than last year's version? You do realize that NarDouchey is a Defensive Super Genius, no?

True, but could be any number of reasons for it (particularly if family is a variable). Ultimately, the D will have/has had Naduzzi's fingerprints all over it and would think the next man up on the staff just steps in. Conklin isn't exactly a household name like losing a Shoop or Venables so doubt this impacts recruiting much given how long we have to go until February.

Word on the street, and I shouldn't be saying this, but it looks like he has his choice between two big time programs, deliver for Pappa John's or Pizza Hut.

Agree on the first two, disagree on the third.

The destruction of their football team that will take place in September at Beaver Stadium, will be very, very interesting.

You mean they might give up more than 61 points to Syracuse this year?
I'm not sure it matters much. Can they be worse on defense????

Interesting point on number 3 considering you took the time to click the link, read it, then respond.

Conklin is the weak link in our staff. If fired, Rob Harley would probably be promoted immediately. There are also no under the radar rumors about Pitt. The program is healthy.

Didn't realize you were a coach on the staff. Interesting how you call a fellow coach the weak link on your staff.

Actually, there are. Get the wax out of your ears. I assume you live in Pittsburgh, as do I. They may not be true, but they are definitely floating around. Maybe you aren't all that connected.

If lionlurker says they are there, you can bank it. You may question their veracity, which is perhaps why he did not comment, but they must be out there.

So, if Conklin is gone, and it's late July, does Narduzzi simply run his program with one less coach? Or does he make a hire this close to the season opener? He has a few problems on this one, even if he was really the defensive coach. He now has one less coach and the season is 6 weeks away.

You can tell me I'll keep it quiet I promise.
Seriously you can trust me.

after you lose to pitt again in september, how many points will you be predicting to beat pitt by in 2018? 80? 90?

oh no we always thought we were gonna lose the first 2 games to pitt, we'll win the last 2 by 1426323636 points each will be a popular comment around here

Sigh... that is your best attempt at trolling? I long for the days of top notch trolls. All you have to see is the betting line in vegas to know the outcome. Now come take your beat down and slither back to yinzer town

When PSU wins in September, its going to be 8 of the last 10 against Pitt. With Pitt's only two wins being last year's fluke, and back in 2000 against the worst PSU team of all time. Fail to Pitt!

Interesting considering your QB kissed your crying WR after losing to us. But, short memory, right?

Well that was because the WR had the game winning catch in his hands and would have walked into the endzone. Granted that was only 1/2 chances PSU had to win the game in the final two minutes, but blew. Hell, PSU was dominating at the end of the game, and if they took the chip shot FG and went to OT they surely would have prevailed. But, short memory, right?

Likely that he is just tired of day in day out contact with a humorless arrogant pr__k as head coach. A person can only stomach so much.

You're right. The quality of trolls has diminished. I've been thinking of getting a new account and coming back as a Pitt, or Rutgers, troll. Better yet, I am going to set up the "Gambit School of Trolling". I don't think there is any site out there that teaches you how to be a 1st class troll. Oh, this is genius! Gotta run before somebody steals my idea.
