Predicting the Heavyweight National Champion

Greg wins, if Gable doesn’t come back
I agree. With Snyder and Varner as workout partners, if Greg is completely healthy I think we’re going to see a big jump this year. The match with Big Cass next month should be a good indicator.

Greg all day. You can tell after the Gable match how much respect Gable had for him.
Someone asked me if you could take the bet Carter, Aaron and Max winning again vs. Greg winning again (no Gable) what side would you take. I took both.

Definitely Kerk. I don’t think he has even been close to healthy and still been competitive or beating the top guys. I don’t think he ever loses to Cass again and continues to beat on Parris. The only one that gives me a second of concern is Schultz and it’s just because of style. He is huge and has the ability to dictate how the match plays out because of his hand fighting. I think Greg still wins but needs to attack the legs without getting caught underneath Schultz. Being under that behemoth cannot be fun! Does Kerk make it 6 champs this year?!?!

Have to give Steveson the benefit of any doubt if he comes back, and I’m having a hard time finding a doubt at this time. Otherwise, I agree that Schultz could be problems . . . but nothing that another 10-lb offseason gain and 7 smart minutes couldn’t overcome.

@zzs006 6 Champs??? Who's your pick for the first time champ other than Kerk?
I actually forgot Nick Lee was gone and I was joking…kind of. I see some of our young guys AAing but I don’t think any of them win it all this year. So maybe just 5 champs again this year

Spencer seems to get so much more attention, but the numbers say the other may be more deserving.
Spencer gets the majority of the attention because he is the Iowa program and all the Hawkeye faithful have been riding his nuts for the last four years. Thats a huge fan base compared to the Cornell following for Yianni.

IF Gable comes back, I'm not sure what the marginal value to him actually is-he put his shoes on the mat; and left college wrestling regarded as one of the most charismatic and best wrestlers ever-does another season increase that?

On the other side of the ledger, coming back postpones the WWE bucks; risks the possibility of an injury or a reputation diminishing loss and having put his shoes on the mat, makes him look like a guy who doesn't respect the sport or its traditions.

And then it's worth remembering, Cael's wrestlers not only get better through out their years, they get better throughout each individual year.

I'd like to see a Kerk vs Schultz final. Old school big guy vs fast and lean.
