As expected, there have been a number of negative posts following the Temple game. As a fan, it's hard to watch our team lose and it's magnified when that loss is to a team we are accustomed to dominating. Maybe we "should" have won that game, though Temple is not terrible and we are not back yet. There are plenty of posters here who know their stuff and legit criticism of the coaching is fair game. We don't need to belabor the effects of the sanctions, we know where we have been. We have all suffered the darkness of those events. But, Penn State is more than losing to Temple. We, the fans, students, coaches and players have worn the PSU logo with pride and our collective strength and refusal to abandon what we love and believe in has kept this program afloat and moving in the right direction. Maybe this is a bit too pollyanish, but there is a bigger picture here and if the NCAA and Sandusky couldn't destroy us, why allow Temple to tear us up? We don't need to have blind faith in Franklin or the coaching staff, but they are trying to win games and bring in talent. Before we fire them for incompetence, let's see how they adjust throughout the season. They are playing the hand they were dealt while reshuffling the deck for better cards. It's not a one or two year project.
Finally, the calls for Hack to be benched are not just inane but downright disrespectful. As I mentioned in another thread, this guy could have bailed on PSU multiple times. He stuck with it, put his butt on the line literally and figuratively and is going out there every game and representing something he has refused to lose faith in. As fans, we should show the same pride these players show every day and every game while playing through the noise and putting everything they have on the field to give us a win. Penn State pride is bigger than wins and losses. It's about family. They aren't quitting on us, let's not quit on them.
