There are 4 candidates running for 3 alumni-elected positions on the PSU Board of Trustees. The candidates are (listed in the order they appear on the ballot):

1. Barbara L. Doran, '75 Lib, New York, NY
2. Edward "Ted" B. Brown III, '68 Sci, State College, PA
3. Daniel N. Cocco, '08 Com, Hoboken, NJ
4. CANDIDATE WITHDREW
5. William F. Oldsey, '76 Lib, Basking Ridge, NJ

You can view their biographies, and their position statements, at THIS LINK.

It appears that the Penn Stater is not doing their Three Questions for the Candidates" feature, which they've run since 2012. Or, perhaps they are doing it, but have yet to post it online.

Barb Doran, Ted Brown, and William Oldsey are seeking their 2nd terms as trustees. Each of them earned an endorsement from PS4RS this year. Daniel Cocco has previously run for the BOT, but did not win in his previous attempt.

Sue Paterno and Jay Paterno have endorsed Doran, Brown and Oldsey. Adam Taliaferro has endorsed Cocco.

The election runs from April 10 until 9 am EDT on May 5.

Ballots were supposed to be e-mailed to those that had voted in recent BOT elections, or had requested a ballot during the nomination phase, starting on April 10. If you did not receive an e-mail, and feel you should have, check your spam or your junk mail folders, and look for an e-mail from:

From the Charter of PSU:

"All graduates who have received a first or bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree from the University, and former students (limited to those persons who have satisfactorily passed one semester’s or two terms’ work, or more, in any University program which requires two years, or more, for completion and which results in a degree) shall be eligible to vote for alumni trustees, at the election next following the year of their graduation or the year following that in which they were no longer in attendance at the University, subject, however, to the procedure next stated."

In short, current students can't vote. Those that have graduated from PSU can vote. In addition, those that satisfactorily passed one semester or two terms of work in a PSU program that requires two or more years of work, are also eligible to vote.

If you are eligible to vote, and did not receive a ballot, you can request a ballot at THIS LINK.

If you are having trouble receiving a ballot, or with voting, you can contact Votenet at:

I believe that covers all aspects of the BOT election. If you have any questions, feel free to post them, and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.
