PSU Football Women’s Clinic

My wife is going to attend Football Clinic next week. Does anyone have any experience with it? It looks like a great event that provides women the opportunity to learn more about the game directly from the coaching staff.

I’ve attended 3 times and will be attending again next week. It’s fantastic. It’s been set up a little differently each year, but basically, participants get a pic with James, split up into groups and rotate through meetings with the coaches, tour the weight room/nutrition bar, have dinnner with the coaches either at the training table or in Holuba, do a Q&A with James, get on Blue busses to go to the stadium, tour the locker room, experience a pre-game pep talk from Coach Chaos, and go out onto the football field under the lights with all the typical game music playing. They also provide a gift bag with various goodies in it. The second year, the event started with a reception on the patio outside of James’ office with wine, beer, and appetizers. It was a beautiful evening and that was a highlight of the event that year, but I think it may have grown too much to be able to do that anymore. James is very open and honest in his Q&A and one on one interactions but asks that no one takes videos because “what happens in women’s FB clinic stays in women’s FB clinic.” A friend who went with me twice described it best. She said they treated us so well, like we were huge donors to the athletic program even though we’re not.

A classy little piece to the night is that James and the other coaches escort us to our cars at the end of the evening. He said they try to teach the players to be gentlemen so they model that behavior. The second year I was escorted to my car on the arm of Coach Franklin.

Sounds like an education my wife desperately needs. Maybe after that she won't get mad at me for yelling at the TV on football Saturdays.
