It is hard to imagine a weekend that had more PSU production than this one! If it wasn’t for Barkley, we could have a poll for the best performance. Plus the players with the best year are out. Franklin could create a recruiting video from this weekend alone.

Chris Godwin is making the same incredible receptions in the NFL that he made at PSU. The Bucs mentioned the first few days in camp after they drafted him that he was an absolute steal in the draft.

Mike Gesicki
Robbie Gould
Saquon Barkley
DeSean Hamilton
Miles Sanders
Sam Ficken (54 yard kick!)

All impressive days!

Allen Robinson on NBC right now,

Plus lets not forget Pro Bowler Chris Godwin (Out with a Hammy) and legend Sean Lee still playing.

Probably missing a few others, but what a great job these dudes are doing representing PSU, especially Franklin coached guys as of late.

Why did it take the Iggles so long to realize what they have in Sanders? Also, I wish he had a different jersey # than Saquon... kinda weird.
Really happy for Gesiki. We know what he is capable if.

And none were 5-star recruits.

How can we possibly compete with tOSU and Clemson?

More like...they knew what they had in sanders it took half a year for him to let the game slow down for him and hit the right holes.

Sanders was a 5*.

247 rated Gesicki the #1 TE in the nation in his class, and #58 overall. Barkley was borderline top-100. Godwin was around #150.

That's exactly the kind of talent we need to compete at the highest level. To me, we don't necessarily need to load up on 5* kids. But

But definitely lots of credit to the staff for developing these guys into next-level talents. Guys like Amani O and Grant Haley are also playing well.

FWIW, Sanders ended up as just outside the 5-star ranking for Rivals.

My comments have to do with the gloomy posts we see that the program has a significant talent gap vs the Buckeyes and Clemson. Looking at 2020 and the foreseeable future, I just don't buy it.

By what metric do you not buy it? Is your argument that a handful of highly ranked PSU players doing well in the NFL negates current recruiting rankings?

Sanders was a five star, though, in the industry standard 247 composite.

See posts #13 in this thread by me with the Rivals profile and see post #16 in this thread by raffycorn, which is fine with me.

That covers it, except for wondering what your point was.
Why don't you think there's a talent gap between PSU and OSU/Clemson?

Because I've watched the last 4 years of Penn State playing Ohio State and there is sufficient talent for Penn State to take on Ohio State, probably even on better terms going forward.
The advantage that tOSU has is in the trenches - where the rubber meets the road. PSU's OL is getting better though. PSU really needs a DT that demands a double-team now and then. If that were to occur, with the type of LBs the D now has, PSU would really have an elite D. At least that's the way I see it. Also, tOSU just seems to be better organized on offense overall. I'm talking about in general against all teams. Obviously, PSU has been real close head to head with tOSU. One of the reasons is that PSU can run with anyone. The overall team speed is excellent.

Mike Evans who IMO is a top 3 WR in football has really helped Godwin evolve. They seem to feed off one another really good. Plus as bad as Jameis has been With turnovers he still has around 5000 yards passing and 30+ TD. I be very careful in getting rid of him. He needs a back
