PSU MBB in a nail-biter on BTN+

This Morgan State team looks atrocious, but should be a nice game to lead into B10 play

Tony Carr )Fr PG) was 2 assists shy of the first triple-double by a PSU player since Calvin Booth in 1998. Good game for him, he'll get one sometime

8-5 non con record, heading into the season. Frankly, not as good as I expected. Keeping the faith, however!

I could figure out who won, but the two games I've seen in person (Duke, Pitt) were losses. I hope the good fortune continues for the MSU game at the Palestra or else I may get a complex.

St John's blew out Syracuse by 33 tonight.
That horrible St Johns team that people were whining because we only beat them by 16. Maybe they're better than their record. BTW that's 93-60 over Cuse AT THE DOME.

Syracuse coming off a rancid loss to El Stinko Georgetown also at the Dome.

St Johns is not very good, but Syracuse absolutely blows chunks. Losses to South Carolina and Wisconsin, OK, good teams. But when you lose to Georgetown and UConn, let alone the Johnnies (without Chris Mullin and Walter Berry and Bill Wennington), you gots problems, and they are many.

Mike Tirico got so pissed off, he just followed another woman home from another christmas party.

Well, technically, St. John's does have Chris Mullin, it's just that he's coaching and not playing.... I did find it interesting that one of Chris Mullins' assistant coaches is his former teammate Mitch Richmond. They were quite the duo in their day!

You should stick to football, not basketball..

Georgetown isn't that bad, they played Wisky tough before getting beat at the end, I think they were down 5 with 10 minutes remaining. They also beat Oregon..

2-4 against major conference teams including a 27-point mulching by unranked Okie State and a sure bet to finish in the bottom half of the Big East. They are not very good.

In their heyday, the Johnnies had a kid from Atlantic City, Willie Glass, who was a 6'5" forward for them- got overlooked, but he was really a good player. He was there before Berry.

I remember that guy vividly, I was at Villanova then. We had terrible matchups with St John's and could never beat them. Mullin tortured us and when we were able to slow him down a little, Glass could throw down some power packed dunks. Wennington in the middle, Glass and Berry up front, Mullin and a guy named Moses at guard. Mark Jackson coming off the bench. They were a powerhouse.

Damn good thing for us they were on the other side of the bracket. They could not beat Georgetown and VU could not beat St John's. If the Final Four was switched up, they would have been National Champions.

Villanova wanted Glass BAD. Those were the days of the great recruiting battles - Pearl, Bobby Martin, the absolute apex of the greatest conference ever.

He runs a string of adult bookstores in Atlantic City now.

St. John's is actually pretty similar to us this season. Young team with some talent that will have a lot of ups and downs. If you look at Pomeroy's "Experience" rating, we're at 335th out of 351 teams. One of the 16 teams that is younger than us is St John's who is 349th. Much like us, they'll probably have some awful nights in conference where they'll lose to someone they shouldn't or get blown out, but also pull off an upset or two. Pomeroy's prediction of 11-20 (5-13) for them sounds about right.

The Big East from 1981-1989 was phenomenal.

Even Boston College had a good team - they had a 5'9" point guard (Bradley?) that could just shake and bank and leave you wrenched in the floor. Not as magical as Pearl, but he could definitely play.

I work with a guy who was on Seton Hall's Final Four team. Won't mention his name, but he said he really enjoyed playing hoops for PJ.

John Bagley. Little shiz scored 38 against us one night but we won anyway.

Seton Hall - I can't remember everybody, Andrew Gaze the Aussie rent-a-player (so it's not him) at shooting guard, Terry Dehare at the point, their big man had a Hispanic name but I forget, and they had a terrific forward, thin guy who could really drive to the hole. Can't picture the other guy up front. PJ struck gold with that team.

PSU hung in with Duke but I think you would agree that they aren't a very good P5 team at this point.
