Great atmosphere yet again, also seemed like a lot more people stayed through heavy. Might have been the world champ in the house but good to see regardless. OK so here are my takes from last night:

125- NaTo is not giving up his title without a fight. He got bashed a little for lifting in the offseason but he is jacked and powered his way to the win last night. Lots of boo birds but he was active and taking shots as well. Just a really good match from two really good wrestlers.

Nico can beat anyone at this weight. He has to wrestle his match and finish his shots, but he'll be in the hunt in a month. NaTo is the only one in the top tier that he hasn't beaten and they wrestled for the first time last night. He'll get possibly two more shots at him, and we know he's a gamer.

133- As I figured Conaway just went out and gutted the victory. Down early, he just keeps going and then rides JDJ. The top at this weight is tough but if he keeps up the pace he's had he'll see the podium again.

141- Gulibon looked ok from what I saw. Jordan had a nice throwby and Jimmy just kind of touched the mat for the Marion rule. The shot at the end was effort which you want to see. Encouraging to see him keep going even after the late TD and push for the potential win. That says something. I'm still high on him and he's got a month to figure it out.

149- Who honestly wants to wrestle Zain.

157- Nolf either. These two are just on an insane pace and are wrestling to crush and then pin. It's beautiful wrestling.

165- Morelli had another good effort. Bo did what he needed to do although I have to say he did not look like he wanted to be there. Maybe the cut could be getting to him.

174- Great great match. Myles was very impressive, cerebral. Bo closed it, and went and got backs at the end which is exactly what you want to see.

184- McCutcheon continues to impress. He's having a quiet campaign but he's undefeated in matches he wasn't affected by injury. That includes wins over the returning 5th and 8th placers. He should be very confident going into the postseason. Utterly controlled this match.

197- Morgan, what an effort to get that tech. He's on fire. It's been awesome watching him wrestle.

285- Great effort by Jan. Knew what he was up against but still went after it. The big moves aren't going to work on Snyder but he tried anyway. Jan deserves a ton of credit for stepping up this season. Snyder is Snyder. Would like to see him against the other heavies but he will be right in the thick of it in March. Gwiz will have his hands full.

We are looking at having four #1's (two of which are freshman), a title contender, a mid-high AA, a low-mid AA, and two other guys that could potentially AA. If that's not a great position i don't know what is.

Was it just me or did it look to anyone else like Gulibon and Jordan belonged in different weight classes.
It was almost like a 133 lber against a 149 guy. Two of Jordan's takedowns were off of Gulibon's shots.
That has been a problem all year.

On the comparison of size between Jimmy and Micha Jordan, you have to realize that Micha wrestled 152 as a HS senior at 157 as a RS freshman at tOSU. Jimmy on the other hand is moving up from133 last year and is just recently healed from a troublesome ankle injury.

I could easily see things turning around next time they meet. Jordon certainly has length on Jimmy and is slick on his feet, Jimmy is a takedown guy who got a little anxious to secure a 3rd period takedown when he essentially was tied and could have had about a minute of the 3rd and whatever he needed in OT to win the bout. I think he could have waited for a better opening or counter or gone into the ride out and won! He pretty much owned Micha on the mat.

I think he and the coaches get this figured out by tourny time.

I am also in agreement that the ref left a lot to be desired. He could have dinged a few for stalling and forced more action and was certainly lax in getting in position to count for back points.

That explains it.

Would never advocate wrestling for overtime, buuuuuuttt Jimmy probably had a huge advantage if he got it to TBs. Jordan sucks a lot of weight and would've probably been a bit gassed and Jimmy already rode him out in the 2nd
