PSU down 2-1 going into 3rd. I haven't watched much but seems like a decent game but just not burying chances.

Clarkson wins 2-1.

I have a feeling PSU is going to see a lot of games like this....still a team that emphasizes quantity over quality in terms of shots and while we uncorked 39 on goal tonight, I didn't see more than a handful that were particularly dangerous. Very little in the second chance scoring opportunities too.


Really need to get a split on the road this weekend. Having to play 2 in Minnesota next weekend could put this team in a really big bind early.

Thanks for the analysis. I listened to part of the game and it sounded like the Clarkson goalie was playing over his head, but it sounds like shot selection left something to be desired as well.

IMO, shots on goal in hockey are often like time of possession in football. It's a misleading stat without looking at where the shots are coming from.

This isn't to say I think the game was even....PSU very clearly had better of play, but if you drew a 10 foot radius around the goal mouth, I'd be surprised if we had more than 3-4 shots inside it. When you put that many pucks on goal, need to get some traffic and rebounds or it's pretty harmless.

Tons of trash in front of the net they couldn't clean up. Clarkson a ton more physical. PSU had no attitude, no juice.
