My wife is pregnant with our first child! Yay! Only 11 weeks in though, and we're waiting to be through the first trimester to tell friends/family/coworkers, but I'm itching to tell people so I'm going to the next best audience, random strangers on the internet!
I'm feeling generous so I've come up with a contest where first prize wins a Bloodround podcast tshirt (seen here http://www.bloodround.com/gear/sejojg9gxr0j815u9agwp6u3plgp69, if you're not listening to Bloodround, you're really missing out) and if we get more than 10 entries, the closest to the mean score will get Jason Bryant's D1 Championship Guide (seen here https://gumroad.com/l/fanguide18/news?mc_cid=49fc4188d1&mc_eid=e363b04a9c).
The contest is simple. You pick 1 wrestler from each weight, subject to some limitations, and we add up all team points they score during the tournament. Most team points wins. Tiebreaker is simply earlier post. As such, edited posts will not be accepted and the cutoff for entries is 10 a.m. ET on March 3rd.
What are those limitations? First, you can only select a maximum of 2 wrestlers from each school. Second, you can only select N wrestlers of seed N or better (sorry this is the way my brain works but I'll give some examples that will hopefully clear it up). So for N=1, this means you can only select 1 wrestler who is seeded #1. For N=2, you can select 2 wrestlers who are seeded #2 or better, so you can take two #2s or one #1 and one #2. The number of combinations increases quickly so I won't list them all but let me know if there are questions around this. Unseeded wrestlers count as #10 seeds; you can fill your lineup with as many #10/unseeded wrestlers as you like.
The easiest way to do it (in my opinion) would be to just take one #1, one #2, one #3, ..., one #8, one #9, and one #10. I know, there are only 3 weights that seed out all 14 so you can take two of those unseeded wrestlers instead of one #9 and one #10. Here is an example of an acceptable entry based on preseeds:
125;9;Travis Piotrowski;ILL
133;6;Corey Keener;PSU
141;4;Chad Red;NEB
149;1;Zain Retherford;PSU
157;3;Alec Pantaleo;MICH
165;10;Jacob Morrissey;PUR
174;7;Joey Gunther;IOWA
184;8;Mitch Bowman;IOWA
197;5;Hunter Ritter;WIS
285;2;Kyle Snyder;OSU
Notice there is one wrestler per weight, one wrestler per seed, and max 2 wrestlers per school (PSU and IOWA in this example).
This is also how I would like it formatted, with Weight;Seed;Name;School separated by semicolons. This will help as I copy to Excel/Googlesheets. For unseeded wrestlers, please put "UN" in place of their seed.
This is not to overshadow any other contests on this board. KYPSW is amazing. Pawrestlersintn does a great job with that, many thanks for all the hard work that goes into administering it.
Please let me know if there are any questions and I can edit this top post to clarify.
Edit 1: Bloodround is sponsoring the shirt giveaway. They really are the best in the business.
Edit 2: Please use the list in Post 9 below when constructing your entry, it helps cut down the manual entry. I'll have a GoogleSheet available for viewing soon for you to verify your entries.
