PSU's Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority moving into a house

If these were one of my kids moving into that house, I would want to know what type of security they will have. Yeah, maybe I am an overly paranoid father but with the way kids act these days, I would want guards at the entrances\exits. This is a house in a neighborhood and not on campus with the same security measures as a dorm. Granted it is the one at I think Pugh and Beaver, but still would want to know how my kid will be safe in this house.

Is it really any different than any of the other houses or apartments throughout State College Borough that have a half-dozen or more women living in them?

I guess this is an output of barren fixing the Greek culture.

(Is "fixing the Greek culture" offensive? )
Another output or two will be that all Phi Sig's move off campus starting Sophomore year and they will no longer rent the Sorority Lounge from the University. I'll bet Barron hadn't thought about that before his purge.

Maybe a preview of what will become of the Beta Theta Pi house? After the dust from the litigation settles, I can see the university trying to gain possession of the house and leasing it to a sorority like is already being done in the dorms. That way the university can put a beautiful structure to good use while still maintaining strict control over it.

That was a weird promo. Just a bunch of slow motion video set to music. Why not have someone speak about sorority charities and activities? Or about public service events? Aren't those the things the Greek system likes to beat its collective chest about?
isnt it highlighting their activities via images? not sure what they are (apple orchard chicken fights)?

I hadn't known SAE was shut down... but there was always an inside battle for the real estate. Now they get to rent it to a sorority... likely much more profitable.

LdN
Agreed. A sorority is pretty much the perfect tenant for SAE. It stands to reason that women should be at least as cleanly as men of the same age. The chapter gets tax and other costs covered for three years and can then decide how to proceed with renewal, recolonization, etc.

It's a recruiting video for the sorority - I think the idea is to show that they're fun and inclusive?

Every sorority at every school does these - here's one from FSU:

Sure. But how hard would it have been to include something which highlights the good things sororities (and fraternities) claim to do? Charity work, public service, all the things which are supposed to make us better and well-rounded adults. If someone didn't know it was a promo, they'd think it was a bunch of high school friends having some fun before the sleepover began. Smores for everyone!!! :)

Anyway, I'm veering off topic. It's nice to see the sorority moving into a house.

Because in reality...their pledges don’t care about that.

Yes, times HAVE changed.

Fraternity recruitment has obviously taken a hit for a while now, with all the restrictions and the college administrators seemingly trying to close the Frats down. But the Frats at PSU in close vicinity to the Phi Sig Sig house should see an uptick in applicants....

Christ that was a vapid promo piece... even with attractive sorority women I could barely make it to the two-minute mark...
