For everyone now. I can’t believe they will have the tournament now that the NBA has shut down. Be well all and practice safe health standards. We will get through this but the next couple of months will be interesting. Who knows how it will look in May!

So if everything is being cancelled and shutdown while a vaccine is developed, then what? If they had it cracked, developed, and produced right now... how quickly do you vaccinate 327 million Americans? Obviously by age/risk group, but still... things could be weird for a long while to come.

Don’t have to wait for a vaccine to make a huge difference. Flattening the curve means a better equipped healthcare industry, and reaching better herd immunity levels with less acute of an outbreak.

That is very rational, but will the response be? Highly contagious, not particularly deadly except for a subset of the population, but much of life is coming to a halt.

Thanks, nerf this helps makes it easy to explain to some other folks why certain things are being done.

Wish I had that penny at that rate of return.

They're saying that the absolute earliest a vaccine could get through all the necessary testing and be released to the market would be at least a year or more. Way too late to deal with immediate crisis.

Flattening the curve is what we are striving for. Too many people are looking at this from the most short sighted perspective possible which is “I won’t die, so I am not worried, therefore nobody should worry therefore this is all overblown.”

There are plenty of other affects of this not related to a specific demographic dying.

Also, don’t most people have elderly parents or grandparents? Old people are valuable too and still have good years left. It’s still bad for old people to die.

Exactly. That’s just one of the many other affects of this not directly related to one person dying. I am 39. I probably won’t die if I contract this. Just because I won’t die doesn’t mean I believe it’s stupid and overblown.
