Big dual went down between these 2 regions yesterday. Dagestan came out on top 7 matches to 3 but there were some great matches and a few big upsets. The results were

57: #3 Zaur Uguev, Dagestan over #16 Artem Gobaev, 11-0

61: #2 Abasgadzhi Magomedov, Dagestan over Chermen Tavitov, 8-2 (pin)

65: #5 Ibragim Ibragimov, Dagestan over Dzhambulat Kizinov, 10-0

70: #18 Kurban Shiraev, Dagestan over #4 David Baev, 5-2

74: #3 Chermen Valiev, N. Ossetia over #8 Magomedhabib Kadimagomedov, 3-3

79: #9 Taimuraz Salkazanov, N. Ossetia over #1 Akhmed Usmanov, 4-0

86: #6 Artur Naifonov, N. Ossetia over #11 Javrail Shapiev, 3-0

92: #5 Magomed Kurbanov, Dagestan over #19 Batyrbek Tsakulov, 7-4

97: #4 Alikhan Zhabrailov, Dagestan over #10 Sergey Kozyrev, 6-0

125: #15 Abdulla Kurbanov, Dagestan over Alen Khubulov, 3-1

The biggest result is at 79kg with Salkazanov beating reigning world champ Usmanov. Salkazanov was world runner-up to Dake in 2021 and 2022 at 74kg but didn’t place this year.

Also, Valiev beating Kadi is another good win for Valiev. He beat Nolf last year and also won Russian nationals this year but lost 3-2 to Sidakov in the wrestle off to make the world team. He just keeps getting better and might be a true challenger to Sidakov this coming year.

92kg was a great matchup between world runner ups. Kurbanov won silver in 2021 at 92kg. Tsakulov was silver in 2022 losing to Snyder at 97kg

So many high level guys from these 2 regions. If Happy Valley isn’t the Mecca of wrestling then Dagestan sure is. Would be fun to see a Dagestan vs NLWC dual!

Now I know why the Russians invaded Georgia and took North Ossetia.

Are there actually duals outside of this continent?
