I was curious how it effected a wrestler when an opposing coach is shouting instructions to his wrestler during a match. You see Brands and Ryan shouting instructions to their wrestlers with our guy right there. Especially when they go out of bounds near their bench. I was wondering if that actually helped our guys hearing what the other guy's coach was saying.

In my opinion, it only helps the coaches who are high strung which need an outlet as they watch their wrestlers. Nothing wrong with it just my opinion. At that level, I doubt if their instruction has much affect - maybe a calming down at most. Now, on a youth level - it could help if the kids actually listen and can institute what you're telling them - much easier said than done.

Totally agree. If your wrestler hesrs you, so does his opponent. It's done for the coaches' benefit. From personal experience, if you are constantly yelling instructions, you get tuned out very quickly.

I always get a kick out of watching a PSU wrestler on mat 2, and hearing Terry from mat 6.

One of my favorite wrestling moments was when I was helping coach my son’s elementary team. There was one second grade kid struggling on bottom and our head coach kept yelling at him to stand up. Finally the kid stops struggling, looks up at him and yells, “Coach, I’m trying!” The entire gym burst out laughing!
