Question for NJ folks and a bit of a rant

Those of us who have been around for a while know how important NJ recruiting was and is to the success of Penn State football. We used to really rack up the talent from NJ, and imho, if Penn State fails to be a major player in states like NJ - I don't see us ever getting back to elite status.
In our last class it seemed Penn State football recruiting relative to NJ was back to the glory days. We cleaned up in NJ. And then this partridge fella went to SCUM and now Michigan is cleaning up the elite talent in the state. I know Michigan has always recruited NJ, and I may be wrong, but I thought Penn State was more or a player there for elite talent when both programs were on top. Perhaps I'm wrong on this point.
Is Michigan's success in NJ currently because of Partridge, Harbaugh, both or has it always been this way?

And I do think we have a good class going considering we constantly hear about our commits looking elsewhere. However, I'm very concerned about the future of Penn State football. In Harbaugh, Myer, and Dantonio we're talking perhaps the best three coaches in college football in the same division with Penn State. Is Franklin on that level and can we win with inferior talent (which he has right now)? I don't know but he will have to in order to thwart the momentum these programs have. At this stage we are the 4th best program in the BIG East and judging by the scores the margin is not close.
Anyway, perhaps I have the holiday blues. I'm a diehard Penn State fan so I think about Joe and what he built here. This program didn't take a backseat to anyone and now we're 4th in a division of 7. Our lettermen seem completely unattached to the program where other schools have guys in the media and elsewhere that are blatant cheerleaders. We're upgrading the lasch building and struggling to raise 12 million which is a drop in the bucket. And on top of that the school trashed the program and the leader of said program. The glory years of Penn State football are becoming a distant memory with each passing year.
Can we actually compete with OSU and Michigan as a program on a year in year out basis. I'm starting to have my doubts. Is this school committed? Do we have the donor support? Do we have the lettermen support. I don't see it. Anyway, sorry for the rant. I just get the sick feeling in my stomach Penn State football as I knew it may never rise again.
