R.I.P ESPN Magazine

Perhaps each of the mourners ( if there are any ) should be required to read one of ESPN the magazine’s accurate, factual and honest stories. That should make for a very short service.

I laugh at everyone that longs for the days of listening to PSU football games on the radio, or having basketball games prompted by Searching for Shakespeare.

I did like their annual 'Body Issue'...

The magazine was on the same level of suckiness as Chris Berman on TV and Trey Wingo On radio. Unreadable, unwatchable, unlistenable.

The magazine layout was horrible. They varied the background of the magazine making it impossible to read a story.

20 years? I don’t think I’ve read a single article and have only seen the magazine in 1 dentist’s Office.

I guess I am in the minority here. I have been a long time subscriber and am going to miss it. They have had some really good feature stories over the years. I never much cared for SI.

That seems to be a common theme in the "new" magazine formats.
They pretty much have thrown every rule and sensible approach to Graphic Design out the window.
Entertainment Weekly is one of the worst. It went from a really good and in depth magazine for movies and books to "Tiger Beat".

ESPN is struggling no doubt about it... Just look at their tv lineup they are going back to their early days and roots by showing rugby etc.... They are working hard to make MMA mainstream. With all the college football and basketball conferences with their own channels and same with NBA/NFL/NHL/MLB they are limited in what they can show in all those sports any more and know the future isn't bright for the showing them. Just waiting for Australian Rules Football to come back

Is this a joke? You really think that places like the B1G Network, Pac12, MLB network, nba network are “limiting what espn can show”?

Espn has their pick of the litter, and those networks pick up the scraps.

Is this a joke? You really think the greedy owners are going to allow espn to broadcast their playoffs and championship games long term? ESPN does not have the pick of the litter... do they broadcast the Super Bowl? How many NFL playoff games do they broadcast(hint look it up) Same with the others.... Long term espn is an after thought. Hell MNF now plays second fiddle to SNF, just look at the ratings. There will be a small place for espn most likely but their days of broadcasting the "picks of the litter" are long gone. Just look at the NFL draft.... NFL channel as well as ABC did their own broadcasts with ESPN. With people now cutting the cord and moving to an a la carte channel lineup the college/professional channels will have even more clout and show the big games. You can enjoy your drone racing and video games broadcast on ESPN, I will be watching real sports where they are broadcast.
