Hill Street Blues was partially inspired by the Hill District in Pittsburgh from the time he went to Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon). Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue set a high bar for cop shows. I was sad to see them both end. Sadder to hear Bochco is gone.

RIP and thank you, Mr. Bochco.
