A nice audition for the young lad!!!

3 game winning streak after a 6-20 streak.... Gotta start somewhere.

Glad Cutch threw his bat and showed up that ump. Terrible calls. If the guy can't call balls and strikes he should not be behind the plate.

Time for the refs/umps/officials to realize the fans pay money to see the stars, not them.

2 bullcrap strikes on Cutch.

Adam Frazier looks to be a solid contact guy.

And Frazier had a nice catch while playing right field. Nice hustling players that should be a nice addition to the roster. Just have to keep the young pitchers coming......

What is needed is a long term solution at first base. I hope we get to see Bell at some point this year.

Now that TV has the ability to show pitch location we are seeing just how bad plate umpires' calls really are. They seem to make wrong calls in every at bat. It is time for balls and strikes to be called by technology rather than humans. I suppose it is just too hard to properly judge a ball traveling at over 90 mph. I don't think umps are basically dishonest. The game would be better off if balls and strikes were properly called.

I didn't realize Chad Kuhl had that kind of velocity. If at some point, Glasnow comes and stays up, 3/5 of the rotation will be new, plus Cole will be back. I'd trade Liriano if they can get enough for him.
As for the umps, yeah, they're bad. When Root is televising the game from PNC, they have that dead centerfield camera and we can call the balls and strikes better than they can. And I do believe some cheat some of the time and I'm sure some just like to be controversial and get attention. I've seen stats where some teams get more of the bad calls than others and it is fairly consistent over the years. When Jerry Meals made that horrible safe call at home in Atlanta, there is no doubt he was cheating, probably just wanted to end that 18 inning game. After being tagged 3 feet from the plate, the runner had to get up and go around the catcher to touch home.

Umps are normally old men. They get tired. They don't get to sit down between innings and rest like the players. It's no wonder the home plate ump makes plenty of mistakes. It is time to replace the home plate ump with technology -- at least for balls and strikes. Maybe all the umps should be eliminated and technology used for everything.

Plus these guys are human. I'm sorry they aren't as perfect as some of you, but calling balls and strikes is pretty tough
